I am a montly traveler to the Philippines. A few weeks ago, I deplaned from flight #103 leaving LAX to Manila. This was the first time I had flown PAL (Philippine Airlines), and I can assure you, the last time as well.

At LAX, the friendly customer service agent convinced me that I should upgrade my seat due to my height (6'3). I obliged and was given an exit row seat (seat #81K) for a fee of $50. Little did I know that the seat had NO LEG ROOM whatsoever. In fact, the entire leg space was taken by the exit door and I could not even stretch my legs for more than 2-3  inches during the entire flight. The is the first time I purchase an "upgrade" that turns out to be a nightmarish downgrade.

Additionally, the seat I was given was located next to a vent streaming in extreme cold during the entire duration of the flight. Asking the inflight attendants for help was useless; nothing was done despite me shivering under 2 blankets for 14 hours. In fact, the flight and my seat area got colder as the flight progressed, and I was frozen to the bone for hours after the flight. As of now, 8 hours post flight, I have just contracted the worst cold and can feel flu symptoms.

Upon arrival in Manila, I took pictures of the floor area in from of my seat, which shows complete thawing of the A/C unit and a flooded area in front of my seat. I have flown on virtually every airline for the past 30 years. Not once have I written a complaint to anyone. But this experience was atrocious and a complete shame.

Upon arrival in Manila, I immediately contacted PAL about this issue. Three times, I was told that my concerns would be "addressed swiftly." But a month later, despite 4 emails about the same issue, I still have no response or ackonwledgment back from PAL whatsover. BE FOREWARNED.
