Phillip Sherman and his assistant Staci recently staged a modestly priced home for one of my client's. The job was fair at best. His price was very reasonable though, he wanted referrals from me, that is why he did this first job for me at a low price. I did refer them to another client with a much higher priced home. He charged them $800 for a design consultation as well as the same price a top stager would have to stage their home. He also took most of the stuff they were discarding from their home at a garage sale to use in his for his staging jobs.
Once the house was staged, my client's called me to look at the house. We agreed it looked like a garage sale gone wild. Nothing matched, everything was out of scale and the quality and placement of pieces were terrible. My client's and I were so upset we asked him to remove everything, as it was clear he did not have the inventory or skill to stage a better home.
His assistant, Staci told my client's they would not remove the staging until they paid the contract in full. The client's had no choice but to pay because a professional and reputable stager would be staging the home the next day.
I explained nicely to Phillip and his assistant that keeping all of the client's money was not right, nor was blackmailing them. Phillip refused to budge and Staci was belligerent, defensive and angry. Not only did they keep all of the money they did not perform the items per the "design" part of the agreement and they damaged floors and walls on the move out.
This man has no sense of design whatsoever and his assistant is a nasty person. Their gig is a total con… watch out!

This man has no scruples or sense of design whatsoever and his assistant is a nasty person. Their gig is a total con, harking back to the days of carnival barkers… watch out!
