I recieved a phone call from a young lady stating that I had been approved for a credit card with a credit limit of $500. Since I had been applying online for several different credit cards, i thought it was a reply for one of the cards I had applied for. I said I was interested in recieving the card. she told me there was a processing fee of $129.95. I said OK, and she told me I would be recieving a confirmation call soon.
I recieved a call from a young man asking if I was still interested in the program. I told him "Yes" I would like to receive the credit card. I gave him my bank routing and account number and agreed to them withdrawing $129.95 from my account.
In about two weeks I had not recieved my credit card, so I went by my bank to see if the money had been withdrawn and, because I had not been given a customer service number to call, I was hoping to get a phone number to call to see where My credit card was.
I got a toll free number, which I immediately called. It was answered by a young man. When I asked about the card and gave the bank information, etc., I was told that my credit card would be in the mail within the next two weeks, that there was up to a 30 day period for it to be processed, and to call back if I had not recieved it in that time period.
What I recieved was a welcome letter thanking me for enrolling in their program. I also recieved a booklet that gave me some lessons such as "What is Credit?", "What are Credit Bureaus?" I felt betrayed and Ripped-off. This is not what I signed up for.
I called their toll free customer service number numerous times during business hours, only to get a recording to call back or leave a message. I finally got through because I called over and over again, and was determined to fill their answering machine up or be heard. I spoke with a customer service rep till I was blue in the face. They played back the conversation where I aggreed to for the service, but never the initial call, or the call where the young man said "you should receive your credit card in the next two weeks."
I then spoke with Fredrick Dillon, the manager of the Customer service dept. He admitted that they have had other complaints simular to mine. How many he did not say. I just want my $129.95 back, and these rip-off artist out of business, so they can't rip anyone else off.
