I went into Pitre about 4 years ago, i wanted to trade in my dodge truck and get a new PT Cruiser.

I found a PT Cruiser i wanted. We (Pitre and myself) made a deal, we shook on it and the papers were filled out correctly.

I traded in my truck and put down $2k and drove away a happy buyer in my new PT Cruiser.

3 or 4 days later Pitre calls me up and says that I didnt put enough money down. I told them of course I did, that I put down $2k just as we had agreed. They said that Chrysler Corp. would not accept just $2k, that they wanted $4k, so i needed to bring in another $2K if i wanted to keep the car.

I of course was outraged, I figured we had made a deal, we signed the papers, we shook hands, we had a gentlemans and contractural agreement.

They told me they had the authority to cancel the deal and come and repo my car, if i didnt give them the money they wanted.

I spoke to some old friends of mine that used to own a car dealership, they laughed and told me that the dealership was pulling an old trick that some unethical dealerships pull on customers. ( the trick itself even has a name that i cannot recall right now).It works like this... What some of these unethical dealerships do is, they get you a vehicle, sign all the documents, and let you take it home. They wait a few days and let you drive the car and enjoy it, show it off to your family and friends...then they hit you with the "pay us more money or we'll take back the car". By now you have shown everyone your new car, and you have become attached to it, so if you want to keep it you have to pay more.

It's a con, a emotional and financial ripoff. It should be illegal and there should be laws against this type of unethical activity.

I told them i didnt have another $2k but I did have another $1k, they jumped at that idea and said "we'll take that". I paid them the $1k, and kept my new car.

These car dealerships are all dishonest and unethical, its all about the money, your money. Be careful when shopping for a car and my advice is stay away from Pitre Chrysler on McDowell RD in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Read your paperwork! Why did you give them more money

Read your paperwork, your contract, if they signed and all the money figures are there, why give them more, an extra $1000??? Buy the way, did they give you the receipt for that extra 1000??? Call Chrysler Corp. and ask them if your financing was aproved or what was the problem, I assume you went as monthly payment buyer and they wanted to finance you through Chrysler Corp. Ask Dealership what financial insttution accepted your loan application, you have to press on them too, they can't just change the contract rules a few days later, they should provide a valid reason to do so, if you press on them it'll be more likely that they won't be able to provide that, and that demand for extra money will disapear on its own. I'm sure they just put that 1000 as the dealerships pure profit over the already done sale deal.
