Driving for pizza hut is not a good job; - you get paid by the delivery - no benefits - no hourly wage - use your own car and pay for gas & all its maintainance - working in the worst weather - get used for free labor - stuck working most holidays & weekends - If you lose $$ or get robbed, you are stuck paying for all the deliveries from your own pocket. Sounds wonderful huh????

I dont about the store you worked at, but most are owned now by big corporations like here in canada is redberry or prism, there's no more mom and pop pizza hut. Anyway they have all there $$$ tied up in buying more pizza huts, or renovating the stores. Some of the stores are quite old, thats why they are being sold! And if pizza hut canada demands new standards, here in canada it's a new look dining room or a wingstreet pizza hut, then is costs big bucks to complete those renvations. Best thing you can do as a driver is GET OUT, you could get a good paying driving job with fed-ex, greyhound bus lines, ect. Final point i've seen stores I've been at have the drivers WHO ARE NOT HOURLY paid, answering phones, folding boxes, cleaning, driving employees all over the place. Free labour! A dream come true for pizza hut! You watch what happens when you need a favor from them! Pizza hut is one of the worst places you could ever work, but it will make you appreciate a good job.

They have to pay for the people at their call center who took the orders and processed them to the local stores. Those employee's wages have to come from somewhere. They don't have the ability to earn tips in either delivery or at a resturaunt. If you don't like the pay of delivering pizzas (which is quite good if you are good at it) then find a different job.

They KEEP the delivery charge for themselves ??? For WHAT ??? Apparently they're paying you next to nothing, the customer never enters their building, they don't have to provide table, chairs, plates, flatware, a waitress, etc. for the customer. It's actually CHEAPER for them for customers to call in for delivery since you use YOUR car and gas. Yet they charge MORE ??? I agree - this IS a rip off, for both YOU and the CUSTOMER.
