Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
last sunday i had dinner at pizza hut in oldsmar florida, just the usual personal pan cheese pizza and a large coke. after eating dinner, within 1 hour i got diarrhea and cramps in my stomach.

when i woke up the next morning i had severe diarrhea and vomited about sixteen times within a six hour period. i got so dehydrated that my girlfriend had to take me to the walk-in clinic for help.

after the doctor did a check up, i had a 103.5 fever, low blood pressure, and was severely dehydrated, the doctor told me due to the symptoms i had had that it was some kind of foodborne illness. they took a blood and urine sample but no stool sample which would have been the best way to determine exactly what virus i had.

before i could leave the clinic, they had to give me an iv for the dehydration and a shot for the nausea. this visit cost me over $700.00 dollars not counting the precriptions i had to buy, and i was so sick i had to miss a whole week of work.

im not trying to gross anybody out or get sympathy from anyone, i just want to warn anyone who eats at these resturants to be carefull, and check your local heath department inspections before eating at any resturant that looks dirty or has dirty silverware, plates, etc.

losing a weeks pay and $700.00+ dollars for a $6.00 pizza is not fun and i hope this information helps anyone who reads this, after this experience, im never eating at a pizza hut again.

But I'm did not seek out this post and post on it because I was so pissed. I actually saw it on the main page after another post that I had replied on where the OP called me and everyone else who had posted cruel and self-righteous due to us pointing out that her complaint had to do with a third party (which she had mentioned) and not whom she was complaining about. So to see that right afterward did get me upset. I do apologize but i never even saw the name until just now all I saw at the time was your title. I didn't even read anything else. (BTW thank you for your response.) I was just tired of trying to help people out and it being slammed in my face. You are the rarity. Thank you, for clarifying. (Even though you put in there do you know your name. I've had it all my life so yes, I think that I do. :) )

last response for this complaint on this site, which has turned into a complete idiot luring rebuttal page, like i said before,do your research before you open your mouth, obviously not everybody on this site has a clue about what i am complaining about. those who do have half a brain will understand, the others, well lets just say they pretty much showed how much of a ******* IDIOT they really are!!!!!!!!!!!!! getting sick from a restaurant sucks, but having to waste my time reading these laim rebuttals is just a waste of time, so for those who support kudos to all and those who don't, read above a few more times and some day it might sink in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nobody is denying you got sick Nick,

You're getting real defensive here Nick. Nobody denied you got sick, what they are saying is that you might not have received food poisoning from Pizza Hut. I find it odd that the doctor decided not to take a stool sample if you said you received food poisoning, unless he/she had reason to believe you just had an intestinal virus (yes, Nick, a virus will make you vomit and give you diarhea). That's it... Maybe you had a virus, even a bad case of the flu would make you that sick. Maybe it wasn't even Pizza Hut. Where/What else did you eat that day? So quick to point fingers, without thinking anything through. Maybe it was your dirty kitchen that made you sick.

Oh so I'm just an employee who hasn't had food poisoning before.

i thought that I agreed with you, since I have had food poisoning before, and only mentioned going to the ER. (Where I was better after a couple of hours because they pumped my stomach! ( Like I said before no fun, but better that they did that then let the poison stay in me.) Now tell me where in my rebuttal did it say ANYTHING about you lying about getting food poisoning. ANYTHING? Waiting for a response.

disreguard for the truth - obvious you are either an employee of pizza hut or have no life at all

ok douglas, its pretty obvious you are either an employee of pizza hut or have no life at all to post a rebuttal with such a lack of sympathy for those who have experienced a severe illness due to the lack of unclean and uneducated idiots who do not care about procedures when it comes to running a clean restaurant. i dont care if microsoft ownes pizza hut, pepsico, coke , who ever, this post is about foodborne illness not who ownes the company, in some areas of this country soda is called pop, so it doesnt matter that pizza hut serves pepsi, all that matters is that people know that pizza hut is running dirty reataurants and getting people sick, oh and by the way when is the last time you had food poisioning????????????????????????

Coke, at a pizza hut?

I am not to sure what to make of this report since Pizza Hut is a company formerly owned by Pepsico. I have never seen Coke served at a Pizza Hut. Maybe I am just being picky.

Food borne illness is not limited to bacterial infection

I have to stick up for Nick here. Food borne illness come in many forms, including biological, physical, and chemical contamination, the latter of which can cause symptoms in mere minutes. There are any number of chemical contaminants found in cleaning solutions, on food preparers skin or clothing etc. that could be responsible for Nick's illness.

pizza hut food poisoning

to all those who want to rebuttal on this subject, including the obvious pizza hut employees, do a little more research on the time periods and causes of foodborne and bad hygiene illnesses. go to your local health department web site and do some research, then you can make an educated comment on the subject, by the way it only takes 30 minutes to get ill from food, and yes you can be sick from 1-3 days to 1- 2 weeks depending on the type of virus, and how bad you get infected. im not pointing the finger at every pizza hut resturant, do a search on your favorite resturant on the local health department website and you will be shocked on how many violations these resturants have due to poor hygiene and dirty kitchens. if you have not had any type of food poisoning before, then you have no idea why i decided to post this complaint, educate yourself first, then i will gladly, read your rebuttal!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Incubation periods vary

#12Consumer Comment

There are different types of food poisoning and the incubation periods vary accoring to whatever type you have. While you may very well have gotten food poisoning from this restaurant, without medical evidence you cannot be positive that it was PH's fault.

If you had anything to eat 24 hours prior, that is the cause of your symptoms Food poisoning takes minimum of 4-72 hours to start showing signs What did your doctor diagnose you as having? If was E. coli (found in contaminated meet, most common form of food poisoning) incubation is 24-72 hrs Staphylococcus (found in mayonaise, custard, salads, or anything cream filled). incubation is 4-6 hours Salmonella (found in undercooked poultry, and food can be conatiminated should it be in contact with food with this) - the chicken that Pizza hut uses are pre-cooked chicken bits. incubation is 8 to 48 hours and the illness lasts up to 2 weeks. What kind of Pizza did you order? What were the toppings? Sufficed to say, if you were experiencing symptoms 1 hour later, then it wasn't from the pizza. Need more information. And right now, it stands that it wasn't Pizza Hut that made you sick. Did you wash your hands prior to eating that pizza? (that is how E. Coli is transmitted the most )

Next time go to the ER

#14Consumer Comment

Fri, October 28, 2005

I once had food poisoning from a locally owned deli. When I finally passed out from dehydration my friend took to the ER. (I kept telling her that I would be fine.) In the ER they will take every test and also pump your stomach (not fun. but it beats being sick for a week.) I was up and going after fluids and sleep 5 hours later. And I was able to finally enjoy my 21st birthday. Also when I went with proof the deli, they paid my medical bills.

Nope, not like you say

The incubation period for any type of food poisoning is much longer than an hour. If you got sick, it had nothing to do with the pizza you just ate. And it wouldn't have made you miss a weeks' worth of work.
