I have triple AAA. I rented a car the end of August. They go through Hertz for their connected deals. I rented a car from Hertz. Then oct 20 I see a charge on my Card from "Platepass" for $26.25. It smelled like scam the second I started calling and researching. I was not notified of anything concerning this on my contract from Hertz.
I Paid cash for all my tolls. I had to drive through the cash lane to pay cash- I dont ask for a reciept unless it is business. I called hertz, they gave me number for customer relations, I ended up having to use email. I called platepass- "Michael" said they will do a investigation and that i needed my "rental agreement number" to track and follow up on results of investigation. They were going to check to make sure the tolls I went through had ability to recieve cash (when does that NOT happen??) and then find the camera records that recorded my plate number.
I go through the same tolls all time in my personal vehicle and have never been charged from "Platepass" They only do this to rental cars from Hertz. Complaints have been filed since 2011 and Hertz and triple A say they have never heard of issues with them. Platepass said "Mistakes happen all the time"- I'm guessing they hope no one catches them in one of these- and do not think people will make an issue.
They picked on the wrong consumer this time. I would like 60 minutes to do a report on BBB and why Platepass has an "A" rating as of Oct 2014- with a few dozen complaints to their reputation! and those are only the ones people took the time to write!
My only recourse was to file fraudulent charges through my bankl and cancel my card.
Stay tuned for less than honorable results from !st citizens bank, triple AAA, BBB, Hertz- and platepass, (aka: American Traffic Solutions-) do a gogle search to find out more about a pending lawsuit with them and all the name changes- differetn sites with their names and physical location moves- as well as attaching themsel to hertz and THE contact number!
