Platinum Marketing Group in Edmonton, AB is a branch of The Network Inc (TNI)

Both are multi-level marketing (MLM) schemes- and do mass hiring and promise employees that they will be helping non-profit organizations. From the initial interview, the owner completely lies about what they actually do. The owner says they do events and fundraise for non-profit organizations and there is room for travel, advancement, and everything else that sounds wonderful. He says you do not work on commision- there is no cold-calling. I work in event planning and he promised me that is what they do and what I can be doing with them.

In the second interview you are taken with a group of young and unprofessionally dressed people who take you in a car to a "turf" to do street canvassing.

At first it doesnt seem bad, all the people are nice and tell you about how much money you can make getting sponsors... Up to $20+ an hour!

They tell you you can advance very quickly- you become a team leader and then make money from your team if they are successful. I began to work for them, initally making $11 an hour for the first two weeks- a very low wage that I hadent made in years. They promised my wage would increase very quickly. Because I had only been doing part-time work I figured it would be nice to make a full-time wage finally. The thing is- I WAS working on commission- every sponsor I made over minimum production made me more money- The lies are endless.

Basically, I worked for them for a little less than 2 months- after my 2 weeks, I made a wage of around $13, then only went down from there. After being with them, they announced a contest where I could win a $500 gift card- so I stayed for 4 more weeks and won- and ended up waiting for another 3 weeks to recieve it.

I never recieved my "prize"- I never earned more then $14/hr- making as low as 9.75 a multiple amount of times- They continued to lie about my wage increasing- I was promoted to team leader and was never given a raise-

So, they are screwing over employees and because most are young and hard-working, they are manipulated- and the employees begin to pay hidden fees and fines without ANY explanation- and when asked, they continue to lie and manipulate.

The truth is, that there is NO way this company could exist by purely making money from non-profits- Ive done the math and it makes no sense. They are either embezzeling their profits or they are stealing wages from the massive amounts of poor kids who walk through their doors.

Ive heard from past employees that they do in-fact steal from charities- they pocket donations- and I think they should be shut down for stealing from employees.

I will be making a claim at the labour relations board for lost income that was strangely deducted from me, and for my prize I was promised. DO NOT WORK FOR THEM. It is a waste of your time and will only cost you more money and grief in the end. For more info- research MLM scams
