I needed legal help so I contacted prepaid legal for legal assistance. I was told by them that they would contact some lawyers for me. I would not have to pay no more than $50 dollars for help. I was looking for legal aid right? All they did was give me a number to call. I called and was told that they could get me a lawyer for about the price of a lawyer. I told them that I was looking for legal aid and they told me that I better contact my public defenders office.
What a rip off!!!! I told Pre-paid legal to erase me out of their computer and that they were no help and they better not try to bill me for anything. They billed me anyway and it ended up overdrafting my account. I am right now trying to resolve this with my bank. I am not going to pay $40 dollars for someone to tell me to get a public defender. I could of just asked my neighbor for that information and saved a lot of money. That place is ridiculous. If anybody needs some useless info just pay pre-paid legal $40 dollars for it. Or you can just pay me $5 dollars for it. Hey I am cheaper.

I am well aware of what they do....Who I talked to on the phone must of wanted a quick sell....I am going off of what he told me and all it did was get me into trouble...they were very dishonest with me and when I got my packet I then found out what they were really about but by that time it was to late......I did immediatly cancel though...thank you and have a nice day... Andrew: As stated in the previous rebuttal, it's evident that you are unaware of how PPL works. This is a MARVELOUS service, and I would not be without it!!! Even if your initial consultation does not solve your issue, you are receiving solid, professional advice...for what you might pay others $200/hour!!! Please educate yourself on the workings of the program before debasing it...legal aid is legal aid...PPL is not.

Andrew, are you a PPL member and you called your provider law firm for legal help? Or did you just call the company (PPL) itself looking for legal help? I mean your story just doesn't add up- PPL doesn't work like that. First off PrePaid Legal doesn't offer "legal assistance", they offer access to attorneys, legal council, services, etc. for a monthly fee. You pay your monthly membership fee to PrePaid legal to have access to a top rated law firm for all legal needs, legal assistance, etc. PrePaid Legal is to lawyers what health insurance is to doctors. What your saying about PPL is like calling your health insurance company and asking them for medical advise. Just because they are health/ medical insurance doesn't mean that they can give you medical advise. Also, the PPL membership is $25 a month ($35 with the identity theft protection), so I don't know where you are getting $40 from. Do you really think that if a business pulled stuff like what you are saying that they would be in business? Never mind 33yrs old, publicly traded, have very powerful and well respected people involved with the company (like states attorneys, celebrities, etc). I doubt it!

Prepaid legal isn't legal aid. You would have your provider lawfirm information if you are member of prepaid legal, given to you as soon as you signed up. You call them. What was your case about? Why did you need represenation? DID YOU Read over your material that came with your membership? How is that a rip off?
