I joined Pre-paid legal only and was signed up for the Identity Shield service too without my knowledge - after paying about $30 and being assured countless times that Pre-Paid Legal can help me with my employment related dilemma, the provider law firm that was assigned to me in Salt Lake City, kept on telling me to contact the Utah Labor Discrimination Division. Well, I could have done that for free. Not only was I mislead in what services were available to me, but was treated so rudely by the customer service department that I feel I should at least get my money back. I dont want a penny more. I think they refunded me $5 - for false advertising, signing me up for a service I did not want, then referring me to a lawfirm that can only tell me to contact the state discrimination department, well, that is some legal service. I reported them to the BBO - that finally said they could do nothing. There is also a great division there. I dont have legal or financial resources to go up against pre-paid legal. Just as a reminder to anyone, use your credit card, never a debit card for payment. Had I used a credit card, I would have my money back without question. I guess the joke was on me. For $30 I did get some cute stickers though....

Its nice to have someone respond, since no one is giving me any suggestions or help with this issue. Thank you. I pretty much described as best as I could what I was told and what had happened. Pre-Paid, with all the legal eagle power, resources and much financial backing, cannot even refund my $30+ , that would really break the bank for them. It's irrelevant how pre-paid legal gives you false information, misleads you, all in a convincing star performance in order to sign you up. Once they have you nail, hook and sinker, they dont do anything for you. I had a labor dispute, all I was told repeatedly was to call the laber division. That is what I paid the memebership of so called legal assistance for. Well, I could have really figured that one out for myself and guess what? it would have been free. If that is the service they provide, sign you up for ID theft you never requested, charge you for it, push you into a contract of sorts and assign you a law firm that tells you to contact the labor board. Wow - that was a huge help, and something I would have never figured out myself. It is dispicable that they will not give me my money back in full. We are not talking hundereds of dollars, but I felt victimized and deceived and that is the point. Had I been smarter and not paid by debit card, we would not be discussing refunds. My credit card company would have issued pre-paid a chargeback without question - by the way a chargeback negatively impacts a merchants credit. since I have filed a complaint with the BBB and posted one here, nothing still has been done. Thank you pre-paid for all your help and I hope that you benefit from the $30.00 I paid and from ripping of other unsuspecting individuals.

What was the situation with the need for legal service. It sound like you were misinformed but I am just curious as to what you were told.
