Like another correspondent I too come from New Zealand.  I was playing an internet game when a pop up told me I had won a $3,000 travel package and had 4 minutes to phone through.  The phone number was an Auckland NZ number but in fact went straight through to a USA number.  The person who answered gave his name as Damian Cruz and said he was with Preferred Guest Resorts.  After confirming a code that was in the pop up he proceeded to tell me about the fabulous package I had won.

6 days and 5 nights at the Calypso Resort in Florida, unlimited mileage rental car for 7 days plus adult passes to various attractions like Disney World.  This to be followed by 4 days and 3 nights at Daytona Beach.  Then on to the Bahamas for 4 days and 3 nights.  This part could be a cruise.

I had 18 months in which to use the package and had to give the company 45 days notice.  Return air fares to the States were our responsibility. The cost of all this was $US3,898 but because I had won the package they would "discount" it to $US3,000.  The remaining $898 I was then told had to be paid now and he then asked for my credit card details. 

At this point I was very dubious, so he put me through to the so-called manager of the resort who proceeded for the next 10 minutes to try and get my details from me.  When I refused he became quite aggressive.  I finished the call by saying I was not interested in carrying on and then I hung up.

We have multiple, highly qualified, outlets who market our vacation packages, and on occasion there may be isolated agents who do not follow our company's high standards of customer service.
