We have had Cbeyond Communications for our business internet and phone services for three years.  Our contract was due to expire Feb. 20, 2010.  In November, 2009, I contacted Cbeyond to ask for pricing quotes on our service prior to renewal.  They never got back to me with a quote or with anything in writing--even after I kept calling and emailing them for 3 months prior to our cancellation notice.  I have my documentation on this.  Cbeyond notified me on Feb. 22, 2010, that the contract was in auto renewal.  They told me that I could not cancel the contract without a $3,500 penalty.  I told them that I did not consider the contract to be in auto renewal while we were in negotiations for pricing.  I told them that I had been trying since Nov. 2009 to obtain pricing for the renewal.  Cbeyond sales informed me that they had a right to do it.  I told them that I wanted to speak to the president of Cbeyond.  I was told no one can talk to him.  I told them that their business practices were highly unethical, and I would not be strong armed by them.  I told Cbeyond that I wanted to go month to month, and I would give them a 30-day notice of cancellation.  They informed me that they do not have month-to-month contracts.  What Cbeyond has done to me and my 91 year old father is a complete outrage.  I think is complete outrageous what they have done.  I encourage everyone to please look at other companies before ever signing with Cbeyond.  They are unethical in their business practices.  They are threatening in their attitudes.  They will even threaten a 91 year old man. You can get better and less expensive services elsewhere.  Please help us by boycotting Cbeyond and their sales people.  Do not let any sales person from Cbeyond through your door.  I have filed formal complaints with the FCC, the Federal Trade Commission, the Office of Consumer Affairs for the State of Georgia, the Better Business Bureau, and many others.  I am also going to the news medial with this.  I have written to Gov. Perdue, because he is about to sign legislation for Telecom companies.  I have asked Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle to please protect the consumers against unethical business practices by telecom companies.  If you have a complaint against Cbeyond, please post your messages.  Don't hold back.  Thanks.
