On December 20, 2010 I purchased a 2001 Saab 95 from Prestige Auto Sales, Inc located on 2829 Clarksville Pike in Nashville, TN.A down payment of $895.00 was paid in cash. Over the last month before purchasing the used Saab, the owner, Marc, claimed he replaced the turbocharger and abs module. Before these repairs, the car was smoking, the speedometer/odometer was not working, ABS, Brakes, TCS Off, Info Display !lights all illuminated. The Check Engine Light was also illuminated.Since the repairs, the car was not smoking and just the lights remained on. The speedometer/odometer was working.Based upon the dealer, Marc's words, hedidnt have the tools to reset the car computer after the repairs were made. He alsoclaimed the oil was changed along with the replacement of the spark plugs.

I took possessed of the car on Monday evening around 7 pm.The car was driven to the Exxon to purchase gasoline then home.On Tuesday morning, the car was driven to work and back home.On the way home, the heater went cold and the car seems to lose power. The speedometer went zero, the oil light start flickering, the needle of the engine temperature gauge was going up and down, and the car started to shut down/shutoff on the interstate.I called the dealer's cell phone to ask why the lights were especially the oil light flickering.Hesuggested he will have the car towed at first.Later he back and said the car need to have oil.I questioned him especially since he claimed the oil was changed.I managed to get the car started again in an effort to get the next exit and off the interstate. The car would start briefly with no power and it smells as if something like rubber was burning. At this point I was afraid to drive the car and I was on a dark interstate.

Several text messages were sent to the dealer.Henow claimed I damaged the car and I dont need to bring the car back to him.The car has been driven less than 60 miles since my possession. The car was purchased in good faith and based upon the words of the owner, Marc from Prestige Auto Sales. Thismorning I checked the car and the car have plenty of oil.The car still will start and cut off.

He can't return phone calls. If he answered the phone, he is with a customer. He claimed hehave doneeverything by the book and I have signed an AS ISbuyers guide. It clearly states on there in bold letters AS IS NO WARRANTY. (Keep in mind, I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 1 DAY)

He wants me to keep in mind I have signed a contract as well for the remaining ballance $6740.47 that will be fowarded to his attorney for collection if payment is not received.

He also made an offer if I want to get my car repaired, he will take it off my balance as long as it is within reason. IF is a simple fix why do he want to repair.

I will be taking the car to a reputable mechanic and deducting the repairs from balance. Until the repairs are made, the monthly payment will be placed an account for the repairs.

It is your responsibility to repair the vehicle

#2Consumer Suggestion

Sun, February 20, 2011

You have certain duties as a responsible consumer. You are supposed to be knowlegable and diligent in your research before you buy anything today. If you choose not to do the research or get the information before you purchase anything, then you accept whatever problem arises as a result. You accepted the responsiblity to make any and all repairs to the vehicle when you bought the vehicle AS IS. Your problem is you bought it without first bringing it to a mechanic to inspect.

I am not affliated with this car dealer or any vehicle dealer - in fact, I don't agree with their selling tactics, but this one is on you.  You are an adult, you made a decision to buy this vehicle without having all the facts and you knew at the time it was an AS IS purchase!

No one in their right mind believes anything a car salesman says. In order to assertain the actual condition of the vehicle, you have to have an independent (not affliated) mechanic inspect the vehicle and provide you a written report as to its current condition. If you don't do that, then you are buying blind and you get hosed.

Now that you own it, you have a couple of choices:

1) repair the vehicle and keep making your monthly payments on time

2) don't repair the vehicle and keep making your monthly payments on time

3) sell it

4) have the vehicle repossessed and ruin your credit for years to come

The note you created with the seller when you purchased it has nothing to do with the condition of the vehicle. You created that note because you did not have the cash to purchase it and the time you wanted the vehicle. It is your responsiblity to continue to pay for the vehicle, without deduction for repairs. If you can not do that, then you should not own a vehicle at all.

If you chose option number 4 above, this purchase will turn into a nightmare - because the unpaid loan will destroy your credit. Don't turn a mechanical issue into a permanent credit problem.

Mechanic Finding

Mechanic's assessment of the car I purchased:The front center engine mount is broken and the wiring harness has been pulled loose from it's holders and some insulation has been rubbed through. In addition the engine is both burning oil and leaking oil.Leaking from valve cover gasket, and burning because piston rings are worn out.

Dealer's response:

We can go to court and when I win, I will counter sue you for every cent and more!!!!!!!
