My apartment complex which is owned by the lynd company has an exclusive provider contract with primecast, we've had several billing and slamming isues with them.
We called them to upgrade our service and add additional channels and we we charged not only the cost of the additional channels but also new we are being charged a $5.00 per month maintenance simply because we added more channels.
now I just received a letter from primecast informing me that they will be raising the cost of my internet service from $39.95 to $54.99 for the exact same internet service as part of their new tiered pricing strategy. When I called primecast to voice my concerns I was told in so many words that if I did not want to pay the increased price I could keep paying the $39.95 and downgrade to a slower internet speed. I feel like I'm being taken advantage of by both primecast and my apartment complex. I am sick of companies like primecast taking advantage of consumers. How do I go about getting congress to outlaw these exclusive service provider contracts between service providers and apartment communities, because as I see it these types of contrats eliminates competition among service providers, they limit consumer options, they allow companies to turn their backs on customer service issues, they allow companies like primecast to charge unfair service fees to customers, and they take away a customers rights to CHOOSE.
