I rented an apartment, signed a lease, and submitted damage deposit. I agreed to a carpet cleaning paid for with the damage deposit, at the end of the lease, which was roughly 15% of the deposit. I was wrongly charged more than the rest of the deposit after I left, for "move out cleaning" fees.
I believe this is unjust because I used my vehicle detailing experience to perform a deep-clean on the unit before I moved out, and because I was told a new tenant would be moving in the day after my lease and that I needed to clean it. So the fact that I was sent an invoice to pay more money than my total damage deposit, is ridiculous to me. I left the unit without any damage, and in much better condition than when I arrived.
I've read many of the reviews on Yelp on this company, and many people have experienced the same thing. I hope something can be done to make them stop. People renting tiny apartments can't generally afford to sue companies, so the company gets away with their misdeeds.
