Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

In February I went into Pruitt's Furniture Store on Thomas Rd. in Phoenix. I was looking for a comfortable sofa/love seat for my back problems. I was excited to find one near the back of the store and it just happened to be the cheapest one in there - $500! Well, hallelujah! I just couldn't believe it! I was so excited! Well, I went to purchase it and was told it was on a 3-week back order. I was disappointed, but decided that wasn't too bad.

Well, what followed was the most awful 4 month wait for the furniture. The customer service I received each time I called for information on the status of the shipment was the poorest I've ever had to experience ever in my life. No one knew anything and they only gave you a scripted answer each and every time. They had no idea how to handle anything and really didn't care. I finally talked to a manger who gave me the name and number of the maufacturer of the furniture. He was a nice man, very helpful and filled me in on what's going on with the shipment. The furniture was coming out of China and they were at their mercy waiting for it to come into the docks in CA. Okay, I at least now have an explanation. In working with him, I did finally (after 4 months) receive my furniture.

As soon as they unpacked it upon delivery, I immediately noticed a toxic odor that went straight to the pit of my stomach and made my eyes water. I decided to let it breath a few days, but the smell never went away. I called Pruitt's and they are all to ignorant to handle any questions. They couldn't give me any type of answer. I called the manufacturer and he said it was "off-gassing" from the plastic wrap it was in and to give it a few more days. After one month and enzyme cleaners and Fabreeze and volcanic odor absorbing crystals, the smell never went away. I never even sat in it. I was past the 3-day return policy from Pruitt's for return or exchange.

I talked to the manufacturer and told him I wanted to return it and I wouldn't talk to anyone from Pruitt's because of the very poor customer service and inabilty of the staff to handle anything at all. He said he'd have to talk to the owner, but he was out of town for 3 weeks. I sold the furniture. I felt bad doing it, but I had to get it out of my house. I took a $150 loss on it. I only pray that whoever bought it, can't smell what I was smelling and that it wouldn't make them sick.

After researching on-line, I learned that there are absolutely no quality control standards of anything manufactured in China, Malaysia, Vietnam or any Asian country. The smell may have been bug spray, fabric protector, paint - not really sure since no one would tell me anything and I could find nothing on-line except reviews from other people who had the same experience. In my research I learned that memory foam mattresses are also toxic and make people physically ill.

Be careful! Stop buying crap coming out of China. It's not worth your family's health and well being. I welcome all comments on this review! I'm quite concerned about what's going on in the furniture business.
