Regrettably, I am a PublishAmerica author. They published my book, "The Eternal Perspective," in early 2008, and it has sold zero copies, because I refuse to buy it. PublishAmerica is a vanity publisher masquerading as a traditional publisher. Contrary to what they would like you to believe, PublishAmerica will not market or promote your book to the general public. Their target customer is YOU, the author. They will encourage you to self-promote your own book, and will happily sell you copies of your book for that purpose. They will make your book "available" on various online sites, but it will be overpriced and no one will know it's there (unless you tell them). Since your book will be "Print on Demand"--i.e., the book is never printed until someone actually orders it--it won't be in any actual bookstores. And don't expect PublishAmerica to help you market your book, either. YOU are the only customer they want to sell to. If you would like to know more, I have posted both information and links to actual documents on my web site, christianityforthinkers.com.(((ROR redacted))) Go to "The Truth About PublishAmerica" page. Check it out.

PublishAmerica never charged me one penny to get my book published, to receive a book cover, to get an ISBN#, and to receive international exposure. PublishAmerica is the only POD in the entire world that never charges for publication. I believe PA aquired a bad reputation because they totally overeact to critics. They ban them from message boards, threaten them with litigation or invalidate contracts, and demean them in letters. If you like your book they will get you with 'the book doesnt sell and we must terminate our contrct'. If you hate your book they will fight like pit bulls for the seven year duration of the contract. I believe PA is the single best POD in the world. I feel in debt to them for publishing my book. I never had a bad experience with them. In addition to everything they did for me, I retain movie rights. On the other hand, PAs HORRIBLE reputation is partly because of their intollerance to criticism.
