My 82 year old Mother who drives only when necessary has a 2005 car with under 45,000 miles on it in perfect running condition, her warranty was lapse due to the years of ownership only. She took her car to get an annual smog check for registration purposes.  She was being frugal and went to the nearest smog station near to where she lives. This happens to be Purrfect Auto.  She lives on a fixed income and rarely has monies left over and the end of the month.  As the story goes she took it to Purrfect auto and asked them to do a smog check.  They agreed but requested and offered her an on the rack inspection.  My mother agreed as part of the smog check. Shortly after, she waited for the smog to be completed inside of their waiting room when one of the mechanics called her to the vehicle and pointed out some transmission fluid on her pan and axle.  They told her that if she did not replace both of the axles that they would break on the road and cause an accident and/or severe damages. She panicked, and agreed to give them her last savings to avert this possibility...(AT this point I will interject and say that their contract says that they may inspect and offer advice and that the customer may then decide to have the additional services done)..keep this in mind as most mechanics perform only the services needed for repairs of mechanical problem when a direct complaint complies with a noted discovery of a problem or cause of the complaint  of the problem!

When I saw my mom as I regularly do she told me what occurred and that her car was not running properly. I, upon discovering what happened drove the car and discovered a new problem.
I took the car to my guy and we found that the shims behind the brake pads on both wheels were loose and contacting the rotor, scoring it metal; on metal. My guy fixed this with no problem.  I told my mom what was the further problem and caused due to the mechanics likely allowing this easily and instantly visible minor problem causing the dysfunction of her braking system and i warned her that "This was likely done to her by them in order to get more money for services'' in my opinion as we both realized that the brakes were replaced by my guy only 4 months prior with no reported problems at all!

I am involved with the legal community here and have vast resources to use here but the cost benefit was against my personal time value to pursue them in court. In short ( I would have had my MOM sue there asses "in forma Pauperis- pro per" all the way to the Nevada Supreme Court only getting counsel after Summary Judgment orders against them could will be obtained. Then we'd hit them for thousands in attorney fees and legal costs...Just to show them what kind of a F,s they really are..but i digress.

So to all you people reading this...there unconscionable contract isn't worth the paper it's written on. However, use your best judgement when dealing with these creeps...Thanks for reading.
