Q CLUBS INC. rip-off
I joined the Q Club here in Phoenix in mid 1998. In September, 1998,I hurt my back while using one of their exercise machines. I laid off a few days but the back pain persisted. There was a clause in the contract that said if I could not continue to work out because of medical reasons, I could submit a statement from my doctor and the contract would be cancelled.
I faxed a letter from my chiropractor to the club along with my request for my membership to be terminated on 9-09-98. By the time it got back to Q Club headquarters in Akron Ohio, they said I was behind in my payments and if I just paid one more month (the current month), they would get the membership cancelled.
That was the manager of the Phoenix facility that told me that.
A short time later, a new manager called me and said I needed to have my doctor fill out their "injury" form. He did that and faxed it to them. Then this new manager said I would have to pay another month dues to be current and she would get the contract terminated. I refused to pay because I could see this one month charges could be going on and on.
I made at least four personal visits to the Phoenix Club trying to get this matter resolved. They kept referring the matter to their corporate headquarters. In 1999, I started getting billed by the corporate offices. These bill came usually about twice a month. I decided to ignore them. They had all the details and the doctor's reports and it was up to them to honor their contract.
Earlier this month, I got a letter from NASCO stating that they were collecting for Q Club. The letter stated and that this company was going to file an outstanding bill owed against my credit report.
What is also interestsisng is that Q Club's billing shows that I owe them a "Past Due amount of $34.50." NASCO's letrter states that I owe $938.42.
Obviously, Q Club does not intend to honor their own contract. I do not have the money to sue them, which I would really like to do. I not only had medical expenses but lost time and suffered pain from the injury sustained.
So, I would like to file a BAD BUSINESS COMPLAINT against Q Clubs for deceptive trade practices and failure to honor their contract. The addresses are:
