IN JANUARY OF 2003, I WENT TO QUALITY TOYOTA HOPING TO BUY A NEW CAR. BECAUSE MY CREDIT SCORE WAS UNDER 500, I WAS TOLD BY JIM PAVONE, SALESMAN THAT I COULD ONLY GET A "GOOD USED CAR" BECAUSE HE DIODN'T HAVE THE "ROOM" TO SELL ME A NEW CAR IN THE EVENT I FAILED TO GET FINANCING AND THEY HAD TO DO A UNWIND.
I WAS SHOWN A 2001 CAMRY WITH 29,000 MILES. HE SAID THE PRICE WAS 16,000 WITH THE WARRANTY, BUT IN THE FINAL SALE, IT WAS 18,900 AND ANOTHER 1500 FOR THE WARRANTY. AT THAT POINT I SHOULD HAVE WALKED OUT, BUT NEEDING A CAR I ALLOWED MYSELF TO BE SCREWED INTO BUYING A TWO YEAR OLD CAR FOR 22,000, AND PUT DOWN 2000. THE SALE WAS TO BE FINANCED FOR 60 MONTHS AT 400 A MONTH, AT 15% INTEREST, BUT ENDED UP BEING 15.95% FOR 72 MONTHS AT 454.00.
WHEN I GOT HOME, I SAW THE CAR ON THEIR INTERNET SITE FOR 13,000. I CALLED BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT WAS NOT THE SAME CAR, HOWEVER THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER CAR FITTING THAT DESCRIPTION. TWO DAYS AFTER THE SALE, THE CAR WAS REMOVED OFF THE WEBSITE. I LATER RCEIVED A LETTER FROM THE DEALER TELLING ME TO BRING THE CAR BACK AS THEY COULD NOT GET FINANCING. I TOOK THE CAR BACK AND JIM TOLD ME THEY NEEDED ANOTHER 4 DAYS TO GET A FINAL ANSWER, AND I COULDN'T BRING THE CAR BACK WHILE AWAITING FINANCING. THE FINANCE COMPANY REP CALLED ME AND I TOLD HER THAT I WANTED A NEW CAR FOR 22,000, BUT SHE SAID THAT WAS UP TO THE DEALER..ANOTHER LIE...AGAINST MY BETTER JUDGEMENT, I KEPT THE CAR. I LATER RECEIVED AN EXTENDED MANUFACTURE'S WARRANTY THAT CAME WITH THE CAR AT NO EXTRA COST, MEANING I DIDN'T NEED THE ADDITIONAL WARRANTY I PAID 1500 FOR. THE DEALER NEVER DISCLOSED THE SALES PRICE OF THE CAR NOR THE FACT IT HAD A MANUFACTURER'S EXTENDED WARRANTY, WHICH MEANS I DIDN'T NEED THE WARRANTY THEY SAID I NEEDED TO HELP GET FINANCING. THE DEALER KNEW THAT THIS WAS A SUCKER DEAL AND THEY PROBABLY MADE OVER $10,000 PROFIT ON THIS CAR, AND THEY EVEN HAD THE FINANCE COMPANY, TRIAD FINANCIAL LIE SO THEY COULD GET THE DEAL. I WAS SO ANGRY I GOT RID OF THE CAR WITHING 1 YEAR AND BOUGHT A NEW NISSAN. I NEVER WILL BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA, AND TO ALL READERS, BEWARE OF QUALITY TOYOTA IN CORONA..THEY LIE, AND DO NOT SHOW ANY INTEGRITY IN THEIR DEALINGS, AS DEFINED IN MY CASE. I ALSO BELIEVE BECAUSE I AM AFRICAN-AMERICAN, THEY SEIZED THE CHANCE TO CHARGE ME A LOT MORE.
