Radio Shack Contract for cell phone fraudulent ripoff deceptive sales Jackson Mississippi
I was in process of an estate sale for my deceased Mom in Jackson, MS and needed a cell phone. Radio Shack sold me a cell phone with Cingular contract which I only listened to the sales person who said it was 39.95 a month, 35 cents a minute over the 1000 minutes a month, no cost for incoming calls. This was three lies. The cost per month was 47.00, 45 cents instead of 35 cents a minute, had to pay for incoming calls. What was not mentioned was that it costs $240.00 to break the contract and that there was an activation fee of $36.00. I was devastated with the bill when I got it $215.00. Cingular reduced it down to $160 bless their little hearts but Radio Shack I trusted to tell me the truth for they have helped me many times over the years. This was deceptive. I should have been told about the activation fee, the actual cost per month with tax and the cost per minute when I went over my 1000 minutes. This was a rip-off.

Franchise has same responsibility as corporate

Having worked for the company on and off for the past 30 years I have to comment on the rebuttal. Yes, sometimes some franchise stores are a little shifty. But they carry the Radio Shack name and they are just as responsible as a corporate store. A lie told at either type of store is still a lie. The customer should contact the company, either district level or main office at Fort Worth, TX. Just saying they are a franchise does not remove all responsibility from Radio Shack. If nothing else, they will lose the franchise.

radioshack doesn't sell cingular

Radishack themselves only sell Verizon and Sprint phones, we do not sell cingular cellular service. I do agree that what you were told were lies. Its something that was teh associates fault, either because he was misinformed or greedy. However he was not trained by a corporate store, the franchise stores can carry whatever they want really. ANd they have been known to carry other cell carriers and merchandise a corporate store never carries. So you did not purchase it from an actual radioshack but a franchise store privately owned, that simply uses the radioshack name.
