I entered a drawing at the mall and my name was picked to win a air freshener machine and they were supposed to do a demo of their vaccum cleaner. Once they came to my house and found out I was single I didn't get the demo or my prize I won

Different Dealerships Have Different Rules for Singles

I currently work for a dealership that sells Rainbow Cleaning Systems located in Delaware. Yes, as a standard, they prefer NOT to do demo's for persons who rent. However, I was not aware of singles being an issue. They are less likely to buy but if the dealer (who is an indepent contractor; meaning that each dealer does his/her own thing with a set guideline to follow set by the company with which they represent.) feels that the product would be beneficial for the person (such as they have bad allergies or sinus problems and tons of pets or kids or if they are smokers) then they will do renters. The company qualifies the people before their dealers get there (or they are supposed to) and I have been in the business for some time now and have done loads of single persons. Many dealers who are on the payroll (meaning they are not on commission) prefer to do home owners but many dealers on commission will do renters happily. Their theory is that renters buy too. I am sorry that you had a bad experience but as someone pointed out the main people to contact is REXair and they will make things right, I am sure. As for Vacation Boxes and other drawings, yes...this is a common thing for the business to do in hopes of getting more customers and leads. However, they do call you and do ask you questions such as "Are you married or single? Do you own your own home? Have an allergies, sinus, or astma problems or does anyone in your home? Do you have any pets?" That's how they figure out if you'd be a good candiadate for their product. It's just another way of getting more leads and business.

Bad Business, It is true that they will not do a demo for single people, or those who rent because they are less likely to buy.

My wife owns a rainbow dealership, and this sounds like bad business. It is true that they will not do a demo for single people, or those who rent because they are less likely to buy. However, they should have never looked to put a contest in a mall where they don't know who is going to win. I would file a report with the state attorney general who will contact them about this. Also the parent company for all rainbow dealers is RexAir. Look them up and send them a complaint as well. This is not an example of how normal rainbow dealers work, many seek customers from referrals instead of bogus prize drawings.
