Rainsoft Ruined our life! New Orleans Louisiana
Rainsoft is a preditory company and it has ruined our lives. In 2007 shortly after we purchased our first home and settled in with two small children a Rainsoft representative came to our home to conduct a "water safety test". The representative, after being in our home for many hours begin to tell us how unsafe our water supply in our home was. He went as far as to tell us that we really needed a purification system to ensure the safety of our childrens health. Having a four year old and a new baby, that was a premie, we quickly became concerned. He then proceeded to tell us that the system would be accompanied with soap product that would be safe for our children and also promised a $100 Wal-mart gift card, which to this day we still have never recieved. After much debate he convinced us to purchase the system.
We started to read the contract and he began to what he called "going over the contract" with us as our children were becoming restless as it was past dinner time. He stated that the offer was a one time deal of a low interest rate and that the contract needed to be signed prior to him leaving. He let us know at that point that he had anothe rappointment that he needed to get to. He also reminded us just how "unsafe" our water was.
We, reluctently signed the contract and a few days later the system was installed. After the first year of having the system we realized it was a joke. The soap products were crap, the water was sometimes cloudy, and getting it serviced was always difficult. Oh and did I mention, The water also had a horrible "egg" smell.
We called the company on numerous occasions, constantly to be quite honest begging and pleading for them to come to retrieve the system and cancel our contract. We told them to keep what we had paid and that we would be happy to pay a cancelation fee if needed, but we did not want this system. They laughed at us and were quite rude.
We then started to refused to pay anymore money in hope that they would come and get it. Well they sued us. We, not having money for an attorney had no fighting power. Now we have to pay for a system that is crappy and the amount that we have to pay has grown to an unbelievable $13,000.00 (court cost and attorney fees included). This has also ruined our credit and has also cost my husband a job opportunity. We not have to pay a little over $500 a month, which by the way with other expenses is going to be difficult, for quite some time.
Everyone, please run from this company when you see them. They will ruin your lives. I can only wish that we could have afforded an attorney to fight them. Now we will be paying them for what seems like forever.
