In 1999 I got a phone call from this outfit offering a free cruise to the Bahamas. I was caught offguard by their high pressure pitch and sent them $599.00 U.S. At that time it was more than $800 Canadian. Today, that sum would amount to $575 Canadian.

I have been writing to this outfit a number of times in an attempt to get my money back. Alas, the only thing they do is call me and offer me a trip to Las Vegas, or some other place that I have no urge to go.

The reasons I asked for my money back were: A friend of mine took them up on the offer, and it turns out their main motive is to sell pathetic time share condos. My friend had to pay her airfare from Halifax Nova Scotia to Fort Lauderdale and all her meals etc. She was promised an outside cabin on the ship and the Captain sloughed her off, as if she had just fallen off a turnip truck.

I wrote to the Attorney General of Florida and my letter went unanswered.

And now, they have a new tack. They are calling me from a number that shows up on my call minder like this 1-000-000-0000. There is no such number and I have contacted the fraud squad of my local Police Department.

This company seems to operate with impunity in Canada and the United States, and they simply don't give up.

Bottom line: If you get such a call and your call minder shows the above fictitious number, either don';t answer it, or threaten legal action.

One more thing. It's a shame that these fraudsters are using the goof name of Ramada to rip off unsuspecting consumers. And...buyer beware.

On June 6 my phone rang. I picked it up and a voice said: You have the wrong local". I checked my call minder to find,lo and behold, Ramada Orlando. The number listed was 1-905-595-0659. I think the scums who are running the condo scam have either moved to Orlando, or someone thinks it's funny when they're about to be hit with multiple lawsuits. Don't you think it's time that we start a boycott of Ramada Inns in the U.S. I'm not boycotting Ramada Canada because it's a separate company based in Canada. As a matter of fact,I've been boycotting Florida now for ten years, as have many Canadians. We get more in Cuba and the Dominican Republic than the State of Florida could ever offer. My reason for the boycott is because I was taken to the cleaners by shysters using the Ramada name. Why Ramada continues to allow these scammies to use their name is beyond me.

I'm happy to see I'm not alone in being ripped off by these scam artists. I'm willing to talk a lawsuit against the Attorney General of Florida for allowing these pigs to continue operating in his state, or any other state or province in North America. I'll say this. They wouldn't last ten minutes in Canada. Our fraud laws are much stronger than the U.S. The bottom line here is that Florida continues to lose Canadians to Cuba and the Dominican Republic. This kind of stuff doesn't help Florida's reputation of being the state most likely to be run by the crooks of the world. I,for one, will never darken Florida's door again.
