I received the $1600 travel voucher in the mail, and when I called, a man named Charlie with a smooth, easy-going personality described for me the beautiful, high-class, discounted vacation I would be receiving for only $698 each for two people, $199 for the next 3-4 people ($99 for under 13). The package included a 2 night stay in Ft. Lauderdale, a cruise to the Bahamas on an Imperial Cruise ship, and a 2-night stay in Orlando at the Ramada Plaza Inn resorts. I was told that I had to confirm my vacation package on that phone call since there was only one phone call allowed per travel voucher. I deposited HALF of the amount of one person (he bargained with me) and was told I had up to 18 months to take the trip with 60 days advance notice. I would have had to pay for air fare and $25 a day for a rental car since I am under 21, but that the deal was really worth it and we would be treated like royalty. I was also told when I asked that I could not cancel the trip but I could transfer it to another person.

I admit it was naive and foolish of me to deposit, but I felt like it was a really good deal at the time. However, I then conducted some research. I found out that the hotels and cruise line were worth a lot less than what I would have been paying for them. I also found this site and many others like it that said how fraudulent the company is. Thanks to Christina from Carmel, NY, here on ripoffreport.com, I learned about the Florida State Sellers of Travel Act. YOU SHOULD ALL LEARN ABOUT THIS ACT. It states that it is unlawful for a travel company to refuse a cancellation request and full refund for anyone who cancels within 30 days after payment of the trip or receipt of the travel certificate, whichever is later. There are no exceptions to this rule! View http://www.800helpfla.com/pdfs/SOT04.pdf

If you have been suckered into this scam, follow these steps:

1. Call 1-800-203-9783.

2. Ask to speak to a customer care specialist.

3. Explain to them that you would like to cancel and since you purchased the package less than 30 days ago, you are entitled to a full refund without penalty.

4. Have the above web site in front of you (page 7) so that you can quote to them the applicable part of the law.

5. If they try and tell you that there are reasons that you are not eligible for a refund, or if they tell you they will extend your package, or if they continue to try and make you offers, STAND FIRM. BE PERSISTENT. Continue to make your point.

6. If they still will not cooperate, ask to speak with their supervisor.

I followed these steps and received a full refund AND, they tell me, a complimentary vacation to Orlando or Ft. Lauderdale. Good luck to you all. Let me know if this works for you.

Ramada won't give up on me. The Vice President of Promotions just called and wanted to know why I wanted to cancel the vacation. She offered me a 7 night stay in Orlando for $220 a person, create your own itinerary, all meals included, 2-4 tickets to Universal Studios, 10 free vacations to sell on Ebay in order to pay for my air fare, 3 YEARS to use this package, and all this while still giving me all of the money back on my card, just because they don't want to lose my business.
