Complaint Review: Red Chilli Media (Web Design Company) - New York New York

I had a bad experience with "Red Chilli Media." http://www.redchillimedia.com/ (Web Design Company) CEO Mr. Shubh Mukherji

I was looking for a reliable web design company to work on our new Vacation Rental website. 'Red Chili Media" a web design company, appear to be as the # 1 ranked for web design on Top Seos. I decided to work with this company taking this in consideration

Here are the facts:

I contacted Abhinay Kumar (project manager). We had a conversation of 45 minutes and I  explained to him all what I was needing  for our website. I sent him some links, because he asked me, to show some samples of websites that I liked.

We agreed that the time to design and develop this website were 2 months.

After 4 weeks he sent me the first mock-up. An amateur mock-up.  They copied and pasted the sample maps I said I liked on www.flipkey.com website. I wanted a website using nice blue colors. I repeated many times that I did not want grey colors. They sent this mock-up with the navigation with grey colors.

They have a bad communication problem. They just dont listen to what clients need.

I had a second 35 minutes conversation with Sheetal (project manager). I explained her that this mock-up sample was amateur and I wanted the designer to do the right job using as reference all the links with all the samples I had sent: Navigation, color, call to action, footer, layout, etc.

Two weeks later they send me another mock-up as ugly and amateur as the first one. Would you like to guess what color they use in the navigation again? Yes, you are right. They used GREY color again!

I had a conversation of 15 minutes with Abhinay (project manager) and I told him that I wanted to stop this venture with his company and I wanted my money back. At that time Abhinay say to me to give a last chance to make another mock-up. A week later he sent me a mock-up, he changed again the layout, doing the call to action not as I had suggested. They did not design the footer properly and still not making an accurate representation of what I wanted.

At that point I wanted to stop that project for real. I said I wanted my money back because they were doing just the opposite of what I wanted.

At this time they stoped answering my Skype calls. Abhinay hid himself and say to me that I had to speak with the CEO Mr. Shubh Mukherji. Mr. Mukherji NEVER answered my Skype calls. He just hid as well as Adhinay did. He sent me some email with all kind of excuses justifying the bad job and offering to continue working.

I said to Mr. Shubh that we did not trust his company any more. We had so many problems only for the homepage mock-up. What should we expect for the rest of a complex vacation rental website like this? I said I did not trust this company anymore and we wanted that they send our money back. These are some of the answers Mr. Shubh Mukherji sent me by e-mail:           

             Mr. Shubh said they were working 60 hour in these mock-ups and they cant send our money back. 60 HOUR
DESIGNING  A MOCK-UP.....REALLY?

              He said We have already invested more that the desired hours just to ensure you are satisfied with the work
SATISFIED? I WASN'T SATISFIED, I WAS UPSET

              He said We were doing exactly what you had wanted. EXACTLY?

              Mr Shubh said We have worked on those designs on timely basis. 7 WEEKS FOR A HOME PAGE MOCK-UP?

              He accused me saying The delay was because you had multiple changes and you were not allowing us to use our creativity  .. CREATIVITY? I JUST WANTED SOME CREATIVITY!

              He accused me saying It looks more like you have been using our services without the intention to pay for
long (for the complete project). USING OUR SERVICE? JUST TO DESIGN A MOCK-UP SPENDING MORE THAT US$1000?

              He said Being a creative company we always want to give thoughts and ideas. I NEVER HAD THOSE IDEAS. THAT IS WHY I WANTED TO STOP DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM.

              Mr.Shubh said What are we supposed to do with the design, as they are useless to us WHAT ABOUT ME, WHAT ABOUT MY TIME, WHAT ABOUT MY MONEY? DO I HAVE TO ACCEP THE AMATEUR DESING THEY SENT ME?

              He said to me You have to be patient when it comes to technical stuff as there are many strings attached to
it.   THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FOLLOW SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS TO DO THINGS AS LAYOUT AND COLOR

I was searching online and I find some complaints related to Red Chilli Media.  It seems that they have problems paying the employees. Are the employees at that company doing a bad job on purpose? Because Red Chilli Media treat them bad and that is affecting us the clients?  Look this two complaint links at Complaints India:

Mr. Shubh never sent my money back. Actually he never had a conversation with me. He never allowed the employees of Red Chilli Media to have a conversation with me. I seems that Mr. Shubh Mukherji not only put the blame on his employees to keep their Money. He did the same, as well, with clients like me. Keep away from this company.
