RedBox Scam Alert Charged for 4 of the same movie on the same day. Randallstown Maryland
I have always wondered how Redbox could offer movie rentals so cheap, now I know! They are a big scam!
On January 6th 2009 I went online and reserved a copy of a movie to pick up at a local Redbox location , as I have done several times before. I went to location swiped credit card and movie dispensed. I took the disc got walked back to car and went home to watch the movie. Just as expected right? Watched movie and wife returned to a different location at her work the next day.
On January 31st I received an email stating that I had been charged $26.50 because the movie had never been returned. When I called to disput the charges (since I knew the movie had been returned) They said that one copy had been returned but that I had rented four copies at that location. Yes thats right they were saying I rented four copies of the same movie, on the same night. How could this be possible?
So now not only will I be charged for the one movie I supposedly hadnt retutrned I would be charged for two more for a grand total of $79.50. I asked them how this could be possible when I only received one movie and I was told I should have waited because the machine distributed three more after I walked away. This is absurd.
So now I am being held responsible for three movies that I never recieved and they wont budge. I have contacted my bank to dispute the charges but I dont expext to get very far with that. But I will make a point to tell everyone I come across what a scam RedBox is.
