Beware of regions bank and their overdraft scams.   Over many years I have been hit with outrageous overdraft fees.  Only recently I have discovered regions extremely well documented tactics used to push my accounts into overdraft.   All the while I was being told the mistake was mine by regions customer service.

I discovered what was going on by setting up an overdraft and seeing transactions reordered to to maximize the damage.   Transactions that were paid and accounted for the previous day where charged as overdraft.  A check that was drafted on my account 3 weeks prior finally registered only when it would overdraft.  Checks that would normally post at midnight would post midday to cause overdrafts.  Deposits that should cover any transaction are inexplicably held or simply don't with bogus reasons given.

There are other examples. Suffice it to say regions bank has definitely violated the public trust.

DO NOT BANK AT REGIONS.

A check that was drafted on my account 3 weeks prior finally registered only when it would overdraft.

- Okay so by your brilliant deduction the bank not only knew you would overdraft but when.  So they apparently had someone in some back room just holding the check until they saw your account go negative.  So if we follow this logic out someone could write a check for $1000 and as long as they never overdraft their account they will never post it and basically have a free $1000?...that is what you are saying right?

Checks that would normally post at midnight would post midday to cause overdrafts.

- What type of check?  Was this a check presented at a branch?  Because if so those are immediatly processed.  There are also cases now where stores will "scan" your check and turn it into an immediate debit.  So if you had $50 in your account, wrote a check at a store for $60 at noon.  If they processed it as a debit you are $10 overdrafted, even if you race back to the bank to deposit $10.01 at 1:30PM...because the money was spent at noon you still overdraft.

Deposits that should cover any transaction are inexplicably held or simply don't with bogus reasons given.

- Here is your next issue.  With the speed of transactions you can NEVER guarantee you will beat the money back to the bank.  The days of "floating" funds is long gone.  If you don't currently have the money available in your account when you attempt to spend it, you subject yourself to Overdrafts.

Oh and by the way, how about posting some of these "bogus" reasons they gave you?

I have one final question for you.   Just how much time and energy have you spent in trying to prove incorrectly that they are wrong?  Because if you would only put that same energy into proper account management you won't overdraft.  That starts with keeping an accurate and most importantly...NEVER attempting to spend money on your accunt unless it is currently available in the account.
