Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

My father received a call from Reliant Recovers Inc., looking for my brother who has not lived at home in 30 years. The caller wanted to get in touch with my brother concerning a loan or credit card debit that had not been paid. Never was clear on which it was. The caller identified himself as a Mr Lane.

Lane finally gave my father the amount my brother supposedly owed, but according to the caller, wasn't suppose to give out personal information about my brother.  My father gave him my brothers cell and two days later the caller called my father back and wanted to know if he would pay the $1,600 that was owed. He never apparently got in touch with my brother and he did not return his call.

My father asked what it was for and never got an answer and of coarse refused to pay. Mr Lane insisted that he give him a check number or credit card number to pay for my brother. My dad refused and asked the Lane to phone him back the next day. This gave my Dad a chance to check with my brother first

After discussing with my brother he found out that he didn't not owe the money.  Two days later the Lane phoned my Dad back. My Dad asked what it would take to make the debt to go away. Lane said he would settle for $250. My Dad returned with an offer of $200 and the Lane agreed.

My Dad didn't not pay Lane anything and refused to give him anything, since it seemed strange to settle for so much less than the actual debt, in question?

I went on-line to investigate Reliant Recoveries and found some information that did not put the company in a good light. I believe this smells like some kind of a scam to take advantage of people in some off the wall way.

I couldn't find a category to put this in so I indicated the one that best described this attempted rip off.  I am doing this for my 83 year old father to determine what kind of company does this and offers a settlement so much smaller than the original amount owed??

After reading the gentlemen's claim on here about not receiving pay for his work with Reliant I started wondering even more about this company. I hope someone can do some investigating to find out if they are a legitimate company?
