Obviously that manager was incompetent as your right to seek immediate medical care for an on the job injury is rock solid and can never be denied for any reason. It is the law.
Maybe this pinheaded idiot was confused between workman's comp and unemployment.
Even with unemployment you are eligible as soon as you make the claim that you were fired for seeking medical care under workmans comp coverage.
You cannot be accused of insubordination "after the fact".
He verbally fired you. That was his mistake, and a demonstration of his ignorance and lack of professionalism.
Anything you said AFTER he verbally fired you means absolutely nothing, legally.
You cannot be considered to be "insubordinate" towards someone you no longer work for!!
Idiots like that just need to be dragged out back and beaten to a pulp.
( That MIGHT be considered "insubordination ).
Makes me laugh.. I actually punched an owner/manager in the face one time as he was spouting off his nonsense to me at some POS job I was working in Vegas. This guy was so full of himself and everyone hated him. I had several "witnesses" that said HE assaulted me by poking me in the chest. AND, I got my unemployement, and he got a broken nose.
Food for thought.
I am a Veteran as well. I don't take disrespect from ANYONE.
