I work for Rent-A-Center and although I am fairly new, the policies on computers is very clear: "STAY OUT UNTIL YOU OWN IT!". The customer is solely responsible for anything done to the computer outside of the store, at the customers residence. The contract can also be terminated immediately if it is discovered that someone has tampered around inside of the computer. Just remember that you signed a LEGALY BINDING CONTRACT saying you wouldnt even open the computer cause its not yours until it is paid off in full.

I am sorry to hear about your situation, and I wanted to inform you that during the close of your contract the first page that prints is for Benefits Plus, this is the program that gives you a loaner when your product needs servicing, and also gives you a year of free parts and labor as long as you pay the $3.00 plus tax a wk for a yr after you payoff. I also can say that while you may be mistreated at your store, not all of the stores are like that. For instance,in my market which is 240, in Region 40. I work for the largest store in the market, and we make sure all customers are satisfied one way or another. If we have a service issue that involves us not being able to fix your computer, then we search the market for another computer like yours that has the same or less remaining on it. I can assure you if you were at my store you would not be receiving this kind of headache. Oh, and unfortunately for you if you disagree with Rent-A Center you can't sue them. During the contract process one of the pages you sign is an Arbitration Agreement, which states, two things... ONE..If you disagree with anything in the contract than you you agree to arbitrate with a third party outside of court, and you also agree that if a class action lawsuit arises you agree not to join. Employees also have to sign this upon employment and promotion too. To set the record straight about late payments, RAC has a no tolerance policy about being late. It states in your contract that you signed that you agree to make your renewal payments on or before your due date,or a double payment will be requested to keep you in advance status. It also states you have life time reinstatement, so that if you get in a bind, just return the merchandise to the store and tell them to hold it for you for a couple of weeks to let you get caught up on your bills, and then simply reinstate where you left off at. I am the one with our common sense? Well I read before I sign a document. Read the part about MAINTANCE AND WARRANTY. As part of Rent A Centers service you are automatacly get a loaner, and if they didn't give you one and you didn't say anything about it, well perhaps you should learn to read before you sign and ask question huh..

First of all I could understand you not getting back the orginal merchandise if it was completely broken, but in my case all the computer needed the first time was to be reformatted. I didn't remove the extra memory I had purchased due to the fact that I TRUSTED this people. I had been a very loyal customer and had only been late twice in the year I had been paying for the merchandise. And the first time I took it to get service, the memory stayed in the computer and it came back with the computer. That is why I didn't even think twice about taking it out. As for you SPARKLZ, you are obvisiouly the LOYAL employee and you are obviously the one with NO COMMON SENSE....now let me just tell you, I WAS NEVER OFFERED A LOANER DURING THE TIME THE COMPUTER WAS GOING TO BE IN SERVICE....if that would have been the case I wouldn't have mind paying for it.....but since I didn't have any merchandise for 3 weeks....WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT....I DIDN'T HAVE ANY MERCHANDISE......IDIOT!!! There is nothing wrong with upgrading anything if you KNOW you are paying on it to keep it,NOT JUST RENTING IT....I HAD ALREADY HAD THIS COMPUTER FOR ONE FULL YEAR...AND I ONLY HAD 4 MONTHS LEFT TO PAY ON IT... YOU EMPLOYEES OF RIP ME OFF....oops..my bad...of Rent A Center...should be more HONEST. If Rent A Center doesn't pay you enough to buy your s**t...then you should really get another job that does pay you enough to buy your own s**t....that way you "LOYAL" employees of RIP ME OFF...don't have to STEAL from any customers....NOW THAT'S COMMON SENSE.....

The reason you get charged still is becuase you are still renting even thought you have your merchandise in sevice. THAT IS WHY YOU ARE PROVIDING A LOANER COMPUTER DURING THE TIME YOURS IS ON SERVICE. As for the memory of the computer, you shouldn't of modified it in any way shape or form to begin with. It was NOT your property. Its not yours till you have finished paying it off as stated by the rental agreement and signed and you have recieved your certificate of ownership. Its just common sense.

When you send a rental appliance back for service, there's no guarantee they'll even give you back the SAME unit. They aren't required to, they can replace it with an equivalent unit. You must remove any options that you purchased seperately and back up your data (and of course destroy any sensitive data, because another customer may eventually get "your" computer) before sending it in. They shouldn't charge you rent while the unit is in their possession for service. That's why they should like to just swap it for another one. When you come to your senses about rent to own, look at how much you have remianing to pay versus what the unit is worth to decide if you want to continue. The amount you have already paid is irrelevant, although a lot of people have a hard time getting over it, that money is gone. Decide based on the options you have now (keep unit or return it) and which will be the best deal for the future.
