Back in December of 2007 my parent recieved a phone call from a MR. Adler, whom had never given me his first name. He was claiming to be from a Rephen Law Firm and he was looking for me. At the time I was unable to make long distance so I didn't return his call. I never heard from again until about a week ago when he called and spoke with my brother.

He also told my brother that if I didn't call him back within 24 hours that I would have a warrent for my arrest. I was in such shock I didn't know what to do. I wasn't able to call him within that time frame. I have a job and a life. I called him back on Friday the 8th of August. He told me that I needed to come up with $1,100 By the 28th of August or I would be taken to court.

Me being a little wise to tricks called him out on some legal lingo. Some things that I knew about the law that applied to the situation. The had an answer for everything. I did take notice that I heard a lot of voices in the back ground. Which lead me to believe that he was a debt collector. He had me pretty shakin up by the time I got off the phone with him. I was really woried that he might be whom he said he was.

He had instucted me to contact my lawyer and call him back on Monday before 4pm. He said he had a meeting with his clients and he would discuss with them what I had desided to do. Over that weekend I did contact my lawyer and I did some homework online about this company. I was disgusted by what I found out. My lawyer adviced me not to give him a dime. I called him back about 11:30 AM on the 11th of August.

Both time I called him it took him hours to respond. That conversation was very short. I first asked him for his first name, he refused to give it to me and said there was no reason for me to have it. I simply said you and your conpany are requesting money from me, or course I should know. Then I asked him about his claim that he was going to have a conversation with his clients today at 4pm, he said yes I believe that I do.

I said then if you have a meeting with your client that leads me to believe that you are a lawyer. He said " What are you trying to get at" I said The scam that you are trying to run. This sham!! He argued with me for a few minutes and then I told him I would see him in court but he would be on the oppisite side that he wanted to be. Then I hung up. As I was telling my father what had happened, he called me back.

He argued with me and he was very rude. You could tell he had no professionalism or sense of tact. I told him that my lawyer had found where there had been a claim against him and he wanted me to tell him what the name of my lawyer was. I refused to tell him and I said he would find out in due time. I also adviced him never to call this number again. To be continued............................

Since my last update I continues to receive phone calls from Mr Adler, and he still maintained his claim as being from a law firm. On our last phone call I advised him that I had retained a lawyer who would take my case if he continued to harass me. I had also advised him that I had called his local police office in New City and spoke with an officer about what was going on. The last phone I had with him I told him never to call me again. Now almost 3 months since his last harassing phone call I get a call from a woman this time. I don't remember her name off hand but I know that she was extremely rude and unprofessional. She claimed the same as being an assistant to Mr. Rephen. I told her the same things that I had told Mr.Adler about the laws here where I m from and how her New York laws couldn't apply to me. Having had enough of this entire situation I blew up on her. She became defensive after I told her that if she was who she claimed to be "representing a law firm" then she was extremely unprofessional and where I was from people with a position of law enforcement or legal service didn't talk to people with such disrespect. She called me a "loser" and that "I should be ashamed of myself". I told her the same thing I told Mr. Adler, never to call me again. Although I doubt that they will listen. Now today i go online here to update and I see there is a rebuttal upon my original statement. For that person whom I noticed added it anonymously, I have my name there for you to see, although I am pretty sure I know who added that statement, I am sure you knew it was me because I told you that I had been on this site and filed a report. And to Mr. Rephen. If you are indeed a lawyer you may want to talk to your employee's about the way are harassing people. Harassment is illegal as well as misrepresenting yourself. If your employee's are going to continue doing business this way, expect that you yourself will be getting a flood of complaints and maybe a law suit or two.

I am from the Rephen law firm and have been advised of your anonymous posting. Being anonymous, I presume you have something to hide. Your comments are wholly inaccurate and, as such, I would advise you reconsider them. For starters, as part of the Rephen law firm's policies, if you are disputing a debt(s) that was forwarded to this law firm then you were surely advised to provide proof and, in response, we would gladly undertake a review or re-validation. If you were claiming that the debt(s) in question was not yours then we surely provided you with directions to get the matter rectified. However, if you are obligated on the debt(s), then you should resolve the same voluntarily. Files placed with this law firm are sent here as a last resort because debtors', perhaps as yourself, have failed to resolve their debt(s) for a long period of time, the debt(s) having been processed and pursued extensively through the merchant and/or collection agency or agencies. We rely on information provided by the creditor, information, from our experience, which is usually accurate. This firm, without question, follows the strict confines of all applicable laws. Failing to pay a merchant or creditor for your outstanding debt(s) that are owed to them, is the only questionable behavior that needs to be discussed.

Today I received another phone call from Mr. Adler and I am just done. My case with this firm will be turned over to the states attorney as of tomorrow. I am tired of the harrassment and now it's time for Mr. Adler to pay for his deceptions.
