I was subscribed to the MyPrivacy service with reputation.com.  It worked well initially; the interface showed me where it found my private information and the removal requests it submitted.  The software would also manually run a scan if I added contact information.  This feature later vanished, for no apparent reason.

Over time, other features started disappearing.  I received a periodic email summarizing the number of scans they had performed and their dates.  The frequency of their scans dimished dramatically, to the point that they were showing greater than 9 months of time since the last scan.

I performed a google search of my own name and found that my information was back on the web, in even more detail.  People search engines now had my name, age, address and relatives.  This was information that wasn't out there until I got the service with reputation.com, and gave them that information.

When I contacted customer service to ask why my information was out there and why features had disappeared, the woman I spoke to stated that they only supported 2 aliases of a name.  This was in no way indicated when I initially signed up, and the fields to enter aliases in their web interface allowed me to enter unlimited aliases, with no indication that it would only actually work for a total of 2 other than my name.  And I wasn't trying to put in an entirely different name or anything, just the short version of my first name, and my middle initial instead of full middle name.

This woman seemed quick to blame me for misusing the service, although I used it as directed and wasn't expecting anything above and beyond what they promised.  Since I didn't feel like arguing and their phone representative seemed pretty aggressive, I just said, "Oh, OK," and hung up.  I then called a different number to cancel the service, and the same woman answered.  I gave her my information again, and she said that she had canceled my service.  I then found that she had immediately revoked access to my account, instead of letting me keep access until the end of the billing cycle, effectively stealing service from me, not delivering as promised.

From this experience, I would absolutely not recommend their services to anyone.

I'm looking in to the Abine services now, but am waiting on them to let me know if similar restrictions exist with aliases and their service.
