First some background. My credit score is over 825. I have never left  debt obligation unpaid in my life and I am 70 yrs old.

RGS called me and claimed I owed a credit card debt in the amount of $7.24. This is NOT a typo, the amount claimed by them was $7.24 BUT with accrued interest and penalties it has grown to $124.00!!

This "alleged" debt was apparently incurred SIX AND ONE HALF YRS AGO!! In all this time I have never received a notice of non payment from the original debtor (Deep Discount CD). The claim by RGS is it was an Internet order placed from an email acct never owned by me and residing with Comcast.

No amount of logic used by me registered with these people who seem to believe all they need to do is call people, tell them they owe money and the people will write them a check. Perhaps there are folks like that out there but I a not one of them. I asked them run a bureau on me so they could see for themselves how I have a perfectly spotless credit history and in fact have paid every credit card bill I have received both on time and in full.

They were unmoved by the logic I offered as to why someone with my credentials would not pay a $7.24 bill.  Of course I will never pay this as I believe it is a scam and RGS simply blankets the nation with bogus claims hoping to get enough to pay even if they don't owe the money simply to make it go away.

I have emailed a Mr Pruitt and asked him to call me and perhaps get him to see the foolishness and futility of this attempt to hijack my wallet.
