I called my insurance company about possible roof damage, they were quick to recommend RVE to do a free inspection. I met with the roofing "genius" after their initial inspection and listened to all of the awesome background information about their company and all of the amazing upgrades their company had to offer. By the end of the presentation (keep in mind that this is before any claim had even been filed) they had worked up an outrageous $4,200 number in upgrades in addition to "whatever the insurance company would pay for my roof", and then insisted that I sign a proposal with nothing actually quoted on it. Upon meeting with my claims adjuster, my roof was in fact approved for full replacement. The RVE roofing "genius" was there with the adjuster and insisted that once the adjuster had finished his paperwork for the roof, that I immediately sign over the insurance check to them because, "that's how this process works" and then they would begin work. By this point I had asked for a formal quote 2 times, but one was never produced. The next day I was met by the RVE roofing "genius" and a manager. For the 3rd time, they were unable to produce a formal quote and insisted that they let me see the claims adjuster paperwork to "see what they may have missed", but in fact they wanted to see what my roof had been valued at... I told them that without a formal quote, I could not go any further with their company. The next day, manager Clay Cox came out to my house to explain to me that since the roof had been approved "the "quote" that matters is the estimate provided by your insurance company", and refused to submit a formal quote.  The following Monday, yesterday, Clay Cox emailed me accusing me of trying to commit insurance fraud by " trying to avoid paying your deductible, and even attempting to profit on the roof trade", non or which is true.  My claims adjuster recommended I get 3 quotes to ensure that I was paying a fair price for this repair.  I told Clay Cox that I had been advised against everything that he was telling me  to do.  Clay Cox then emailed me saying, "You pay your deductible, and turn over the approved funds from the insurance company", and further accused me of trying to commit fraud and then calling me unethical, "Shadier still is trying to avoid paying your deductible (by definition that's your responsibility) and to profit off the deal so that you can spend the money elsewhere. That, Sir, is unethical."  Lastly Clay Cox tried belittling my intelligence by saying, "I apologize if you are not able to follow my explanation of how an insurance claim is processed. Sounds like you know other people who can walk you through it. Good luck with the roof."
