Risk Management Alternatives ripoff, liars, Claimed to be Lawyers, threatened us with lawsuit Beware and never let them talk to you about doing a check by phone. Mount Prospect Illinois
At 6:00 am this morning I received a call from this company. When I advised them the time they hung up. They called back at 8:15 this morning asking for my daughter.
The woman (Julia) claimed she was from a law office and needed to speak to my daughter at once. After giving the phone to my daughter I went back to bed as I work a graveyard shift.
When I awoke my daughter told me that this person (Julia) had told her they were getting ready to go into court this morning and sieze my daughters paychecks, her car, and anything of value she had. Julia stated unless my daughter agreed to make payments in the amount of $500.00 a month she would proceed with the court action.
Being in fear my daughter told this woman she could not make that amount of payment and the woman agree to take a check by mail in the amount of $330. a month. All of this was for a credit card my daughter got when she was 18 and made all her payment until she lost her job, several years ago. Visa has since written off the debt in 2000! This woman, Julia, claimed that Visa had hired her to file the law suit and collect the money.
Thank God for Rip Off Report I was able to find out this was a scam! I called the number and requested their address and twice the person hung up on me. I finally spoke with a manager and got there address but not until I was hasseled about why I wanted it and what the account number was!
With in two minutes of hanging up on these people Julia called and demanded to know why my daughter was calling them and why she wanted the address! She berated my daughter and threatened her again until I took the phone from her. I ordered them to stop call and harrasing us. She told me to go f@#& myself and that she was putting in the check by phone today and she would get her money. I then hung up on her.
My daughter and I were able to go to the bank and close her account. These people lie, steal and threaten to get what they want. Beware and never let them talk to you about doing a check by phone. Once they get the account number they try to rip you off.
