Riverside County Dept of Child Support Services Another mistake by an incompetent employee (so they say) wiped out $54,000.00 in arrears and puts my case in a tailspin..AGAIN! Riverside California
When my son was born I was told I could not get any assistance such as WIC unless I first filed for child support which I did. They got an order even though my son's father never asked for a paternity test. He then married someone that was carrying someone elses baby and she must have convinced him to get the test and the child support office made me sign a set-aside to the original order in order to do the paternity test. It came back 99.9% positive. This is where the mistake of all mistakes happened per DCSS. They never went back to the court to get a new order of support and continued to garnish his wages for 7 years , on and off whenever he worked. Last October when he was $54,000.00 in arrears they discovered their mistake they stopped all support, wiped out the arrears, and are telling me that I can now be held responsible for the money they garnished from him for the 7 years they "goofed"! I have contacted every Family Law attorney only to be told it's not a family law case and I need to see a civil litigation attorney. I contacted civil litigation attorneys and either they don't call me back or tell me they refuse to take a case like this. Yesterday, I was finally told I would never get an attorney in Riverside or San Bernardino counties to take on a public entity like the DCSS and to try Los Angeles. I called the offices of Gloria Allred and they said they wouldn't take the case either. Out of desperation I called The Dr Phil Show hoping he would know who to call or what to do. I see by the letter from Cottonwood in Mo Valley they did the same to you in a much greater magnitude. We need to get together and fight this!!!
