Riverstone Park Apartments in Lubbock TX.So, I thought I would tell people about Riverstone Park Apartments in Lubbock Texas and why they should NOT move in there. So many reasons but you will see why they are total scum bags and will rip you off and try to collect more money when you move out. The Riverstone Park Apartments in Lubbock Texas are a total scam and they are crooks.
September 28th, 2012, I signed a 6 month lease with Riverstone Park. I moved in on October 6th, 2012. They gave me a great deal, no deposit and one month free! Sounds great right? Yeah, not so much. On the day I was supposed to move in, they said I couldn't because they forgot to clean the carpet. Ok, no big deal. But they should have given me credit for a day, which they did NOT do. Ok, no big deal. So I went to see how it was coming. I walked into the apartment and smelled one of the worst rotten meat smells I have ever smelled. The previous tenant had left food in the fridge and it rotted, including meat, and it stunk up the whole place. So I plugged my nose and went in. They had a make ready crew in there because they didn't get it done when they were supposed to.
Upon entering, I saw, literally, thousands of cockroaches everywhere. I was totally disgusted because I associate cockroaches with filth. So I decided to let them finish cleaning and I wouldn't say a word, yet.The next day, after I rescheduled the moving company and cost me an extra $50 to cancel and reschedule, which of course, Riverstone Park Apartments did NOT deduct from my rent, I started to move in. However, prior to moving in, I went through and took video and pictures of all of the still remaining cockroaches and all of the stains on the carpet, as well as damage in the apartment, which I will be posting as evidence.
Now I'm not one to complain a whole lot, but there were literally hundreds of stains on the carpet, and live roaches everywhere. So I went and told Ashley, one of the managers about it, and she just pretty much shrugged it off as if it were no big deal. Now, I don't know how she lives, but I personally can't stand roaches and don't want them in my house, on my furniture, on my dishes, or in my food, but since she didn't seem very concerned, I will assume she doesn't mind roaches. So she said she would send the pest control company to spray, AGAIN.
It took almost 2 weeks for them to come and spray. They sprayed and it seemed as if the roach problem got even worse. They were everywhere. I went to Walmart and spent over $80 on a bunch of cans of RAID and sprayed the whole entire place and that seemed to slow them down a lot. However, they had gotten to my furniture already, and I have a very nice $4500 sofa sectional that I am still finding roaches in, even after I've moved out.
They left the old stinky fridge that still smelled like rotten meat and I complained about that. They did replace it quickly, I will give them that much. However, they brought in a very old fridge with a broken door, so the light in it NEVER went off. Ashley also promised to have to door turned around so it was facing the right direction and would stop rubbing against the wall. That never happened, no matter how many times I asked.
So, I'm sleeping in late one day because I had worked the previous night. My kids were playing video games in the living room. All of a sudden, the "locked" front door opens up and 2 hispanic guys walk in. They were from a pest control company. No knock, no phone call, no warning what-so-ever. They come in and start spraying their pesticide all over my furniture and all over the walk ways of the carpet.
Now, I'm not a pest control technician, but if I was, I surely would not go around spraying pesticides on people's furniture. I made them leave and told one of the girls in the office that what they just did was out of line and not to pull that crap again. She told me that I had asked to have the place sprayed and so that's what they were doing, yes, 2 weeks after I asked that it be done. It's a little late because I had taken care of it myself.
So, everything seemed ok for a while so let's just fast forward six months to March 30th, 2013. My lease was up at the end of March, I was able to move back into my condo, so I told them I would NOT be staying any longer. I moved out of the apartment on March 30th and 31st, and back into my condo, which by the way is very nice, bringing the Riverstone Park Apartments' roaches with me.
Fast forward to today, April 12th, 2013. I received a letter in the mail from Shannon Harrison, a snotty and rude representative of Riverstone Park Apartments, along with a bill for $1459.85. The letter reads as follows:Dear My Name, You signed a Texas Apartment Association Lease Contract on 12-21-2011. Please find enclosed, a Written Statement of Security Deposit Deductions showing the outstanding balance of $1459.85 owed now by you. Please remit payment to this office within ten (10) days receipt of this letter. If not paid within ten (10) days, we will be forced to exercise all remedies prescribed in the Lease Contract. Failure to comply I will be forced to seek judgement for this amount plus court cost. If you have any questions please call me (806) 795-9755. Sincerely, Shannon Harrison
The accompanying bill is charging me $750 for rent for April, although my rent was $675, NOT $750. $41.10 for water, which is ok, it is my bill and I don't have a problem paying it. $573.75 for "Agreed reletting charges because of resident's early move out.", which I have a huge problem with. You can't rent out an apartment and then charge me for it. $20 for a broken drip pan. Not sure why they think I broke a drip pan, but I do have photographic evidence, so when we go to court, I will be countersuing them. $75 for cleaning.
I can live with the cleaning and the water bill. Those are legitimate charges, however, reletting the apartment and then charging me for it is not legitimate and neither is charging me for more than a month's rent, when I clearly moved out at the end of my lease. Also, I did NOT sign a lease on 12-21-2011. I signed it on September 28th, 2012, so I'm not sure what they are thinking they are going to do with that.
I called Shannon Harrison of Riverstone Park Apartments in Lubbock Texas and she was very rude and yelled at me saying that if I didn't pay, they were going to sue me and it would go on my credit. I told her that if they did that, I would countersue and make sure I left some reviews for them in the appropriate places around the web. She asked if I was threatening her and of course I was not. The letter I got from her was a clear threat, along with the phone call. So, here I am, letting people know that if they move into Riverstone Park, they are going to get screwed. I have never had a problem anywhere I have lived, except at Riverstone Park Apartments.
Below, you will find the pictures I took of this dump before I moved in. If you make the choice to live at Riverstone Parkafter reading this, you are not making a wise move. They need new management and a remodel, simple as that. Shannon Harrison has no business in that position and needs to go back to work in the kitchen at McDonalds. So I'm going to be posting reviews about Riverstone Park and Shannon Harrison all over the internet since she threatened to sue me and put this on my credit. I will be countersuing Riverstone Park, as well as filing a civil suit against Shannon Harrison herself, along with going to the media, submitting press releases, and blogging about this scam until Shannon Harrison resigns, or until someone puts a stop to this scam.
