Roadmaster is a ripoff! You pay them a very heafty price so you can stand and do absolutlely nothing. This school in Dunn, Nc. is way under staffed and too many students for the staff they have. You will get good on the road training. I will admit that. But when your not in a truck your so called in the field. This is where there is no instruction. It is student teaching student. Most of whom have no idea what they are doing. Nc. DOT requires each student ricieve 160 hours of training which your log book will show. But my gripe is that the time in the field is not instructed by an instructor. If you get to use the backing truck there will be one there. But the time I attended the one tey had was useless. Each time he told you to turn the wheels it was the wrong way, thats if he was walking beside the truck. Most of the time he was chating with someone else. So if you wanted to know how close to the lines you were you had to get out and look for yourself.

Equiptment is another issue they have. During my 4 weeks one of the road trucks went out of service for turn signals not working. So that truck sat for two weeks until the last week when they traded that truck for the backing truck. So they put the backing truck on the road and it doesent have seat belts. A common law in most states including Nc. Plus think about this, Your in a truck with a student driver. Thr first thing I'm grabbing is a seatbelt.

I went to the director of the school for a partial refund of the time I felt was a waist of my time and money. But you must pay the school before you can take any kind of tests. I'm from Sc. so all my DMV tests have to be done at a Sc. DMV. So he told me write the check and if I dont pass he would cover any extra expences. Well I passed everthing on my first visit. I'm told this is a rarity for students from Sc. No surprise there since our pretrip test is much more detailed than the one they give Nc. students. Not one instructor worked with me one my pretrip. So after the tests I met with this yoyo again. I asked again for a partial refund. His first responce was if my log book showed 160 hours. Which it did I cant argue that. But it doesn't say how many of the 160 hours are instructed. Sinc there is no place to put nothing hours you have to put them some where. And if you dont they will. He asked me if I got my class A CDl. Yes I did. The only way that happened was from the instructor I had on the road. And the work another student and I did working on our pretrip inspection. That other student was takeing his test for the third time because of the same thing. No instuction. The classes behind me were allready complaining about standing around doing NOTHING!

So keep this in mind if you wantto go to Roadmaster in Dunn, Nc. If you pay the cash price it will cost you $4495.00 divide that by your required 160 hours and you are paying $28.09 per hour. Then add up all the time you do nothing and figure it out. I'm sure if you were paying a yard worker for mowing your lawn that much you wouldn't let him or her stand around.

Good luck if you call the corporate office also. I did told them my story was told the head man would call me back. That was 4 days ago.

So in review. Most of the instructors there are the best Mr. Smith and Mr. Horne are aces in my book. I did not get a chance to go with the other road instructors so I cant say anything good or bad about them. The yard guy if he's still there, well maybe some day he will learn his left and right.

Had a few issues with the caliber of instruction as we the students ended up teaching each other because the instructor in the practice field was on the phone most of the time. There were always trucks out of service for different reasons. Even the truck I tested out on was missing a front right turn signal. this was a problem I found on my pre trip inspection with the "state Inspector" present.

It's Monday 8-26-13 and one week to the day after I tested out and after paying Roadmaster $1000.00 as a down payment, to be able to test out, I just recieved a  letter in the mail stateing that my loan has been put into collections. So now I have do have my CDL but I am also in collections. I have a notebook full of worthless loan papers and my credit score is taking a nose dive as we speak. Even if I could resolve this issue I still have my name on a collections record and have to repair my credit.

WOW what a joke the info you have provided is not correct at all when I attended the school I was given all of the instruction that I needed to be sucessful at every level.  About the pre trip, I was shown how to do a correct pre trip everyday until they tested us on it so at the start of every class an instructor usualy Mr. White I think it was would walk us through from the front of the truck to the rear.  I never saw a truck without seat belts.  Over all I thought they ran a well organized program, I was deffently provided with professional drivers training and I would deffently recommend for others to attend to gain there CDL.
