Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I am an independent contractor who offers graphic design services. In mid-2008 I began working with a mobile billboard company called Rolling Impressions owned by Todd Knight in Columbus, GA. Things were fine at first, but it slowly became apparent that my creative experience and insight were mute points when it came to the design and implementation of the client's billboards. Regardless, I was receiving an adequate fee for my services and decided to maintain a professional relationship with the company.

In early 2009 I agreed to relocate to Montgomery, AL to assist Mr. Knight in starting a new branch of Rolling Impressions. Though not an employee of the company, Mr. Knight did not even offer any sort of advance or relocation assistance which I found to be somewhat unprofessional considering my commitment to assisting in the expansion of his business. This kind of treatment continued and even got worse at some points as Mr. Knight began to farm my artwork to another independent designer, asking them to redesign it for him.

The situation became unbearable in early mid-April 09 and accordingly I decided to end our association. Unfortunately, Mr. Knight did not respond in a way that I would expect a professional entrepreneur to act and proceeded to intimidate and obliquely threathen the stability of my own studio as he desired the files I had created during our association. As I tried to explain to Mr. Knight, any files created by an independent contractor are in fact legally the property of the creator/artist (unless otherwise specified in an agreement). Although we had no such agreement I conceeded to providing Mr. Knight with all the files in my possession (at my cost) as a professional courtesy.

Still, this was not enough for Mr. Knight as h proceeded to stop payment on his last check, claiming that the files were not in the format he desired and, as such, I had failed to deliver goods. I wish nothing more than to put this experience behind me, as a search on this site indicates that Mr. Knight has had ripoff reports filed against him on two other businesses, but I am out $650 and he still has what he wanted. I caution all those who associate with Mr. Knight and any business venture he spearheads.

Rondall Scott III / Ghostlab Studio - Impending charges for theft

#2UPDATE Employee

Thu, May 07, 2009

Although I have repeatedly expressed an interest in resolving this matter amicably with Mr. Scott, he has left us with no other option than to file four criminal warrants in Columbus, GA and Montgomery, AL as well as a civil suit against Mr. Rondall Scott III and Ghostlab Studio regarding this matter. The felony charges that he will face include Theft by Taking, Theft by Conversion, Coercion, and Theft By Bring Property into The State. The charges stem from the fact that on 4/16/2009, Ron Scott III walked off the job without notice and stole files for from our office. A stop payment was subsequently placed on his payment. (In our effort to resolve the situation amicably, we even told Mr. Scott that despite his criminal actions, we would reissue his check upon return of our property.) Although Mr. Scott did return some of our files, he admits to having over one hundred files in his possession that were stolen from our office. After advising Mr. Scott of our intentions to pursue legal and criminal avenues to remedy the situation, on 4/22/09 Rondall Scott did agree to return our property. However, despite his agreement, he has failed to return all of our property and he has left us no other option than to pursue both criminal and civil remedies. Additionally, because Mr. Scott is displaying trademarked logos on his website from companies with whom he has no affiliation or relationship, there are numerous companies (in addition to ours) who are seeking other legal remedies against his company as well as him personally. In brief, although Mr. Scott uses our clients' artwork to falsely advertise that he has numerous clients, the reality is that he has no relationship whatsoever with the majority of companies displayed on www.ghostlabstudio.com. That said, I will respond to the facts above: Mr. Knight began to farm artwork to another independent designer This is accurate. The quality of Mr. Scott's work became unacceptable at times and it became necessary for us to pay another designer to redesign the work for which Mr. Scott was paid. Additionally, Mr. Scott began having personal issues and his unprofessional behavior made it easier to simply hire someone else to do Mr. Scott's work for him at times. Mr. Knight began to threaten me This is accurate. Mr. Scott stole files from our company and I contacted our attorney immediately. We want our property returned and, accordingly, we are pursuing legal action. Mr. Scott had numerous opportunities to resolve this situation amicably. Instead, he has chosen a path of criminal behavior, coercion and probable-fraud and will unfortunately face the consequences that he could have easily avoided had he acted in good faith.
