In mid 2008, we were contacted by a very enthusiastic Rotham and Wise employee, Daniel Saxton, wanting to help us with our business collections. He was very personable and consistant. We needed the "bull dog" approach with our collections so we hired them. We're talking large bucks >$100K.
Rothman and Wise reported collecting funds. After the first check was "lost in the mail", we were reissued another check in early November (less than 1/5 of the total). At that point they continued collecting and promised that checks were issued on the 15th of each month for the monies collected in the previous month. We received no check in December or January and we continued calling and they continued promising a check. Now they are not returning calls.
In the end, Rothman and Wise took our company for around $80K. We can only guess because they are not answering our calls. Some of our customers say they paid them in full and we are waiting on their cancelled checks as proof. We have sent notifications to all our debtors indicating that Rothman and Wise were scammers and to not pay them another dime.

You might also contact Dateline - they just did a piece about bad collection agencies - looking at it from the person in debt perpespective. They need to hear from you as well. Wanted to give everyone an update. Rothman and Wise says they are not going to give us our money which they collected. They are still mad that we posted their unethical business practice online for viewers like you. Legal will be the next step.

Unfortunately, we are having similar issues with this company. Luckily, the dollar amounts in question are not as high as yours and we have still been able to communicate with representatives of the company to some degree. However, the lack of clear information from the company leads me to believe that things will not be resolved completely. Instead of action and proof we get excuses and blame placed on former employees.

Received a call today from Mr. Rothman. He is "mad" because we reported their actions to this "rip off" website. My original number for their collections, he says was "not $80,000". As stated earler, we turned over more than that, but I have no way of knowing what they actually collected, they won't tell us. He says they are going to sue us. This is their newest excuse for not paying us.

They called us about two weeks ago promising a check. They said a check would mail that day. They wanted me to remove my Rip-Off Update online. They called me last Monday saying the check had mailed Friday, March 6th. Today is the 16th, I still have not received. I will keep everyone updated. We'll see what happens. I don't have much faith in them.

We were contacted by Rothman and Wise mid last week. They indicated that a check for mail for all they owed us on that day. They called again Monday, March 9th and said the check had mailed on Friday. Today is Tuesday and still don't have. At least they are talking to us again. I'll update if we receive the check.
