There are many types of Food Poisoning and unfortunately the only one who can diagnose not only if but what type of food poisoning you have is a doctor. Without that, it is really just a he said/she said type of situation.
If you got sick on the way home, at most that would have been a couple of hours after you ate. Your biggest issue on this claim is timing, just about every type of food poisoning has an incubation period(after you eat) of several hours up to a couple of days. For example, Salmonella is anywhere from 12 to 48 hours after eating, Ecoli is 12 to 18 hours after eating. There are of course others, but just like these most have incubation periods of several hours, not just one or two. In this short of time it could even by something like a severe allergic reaction or from something you ate in the few meals before.
Please know that I speak from experience. When you go to the doctor and you suspect food poisoning they actually record your last few meals(this may even be a health department regulation). When we did that, we found out that our Food Poisoning wasn't the dinner we just ate..it was tracked back to the lunch we ate the previous day.
Anyways, since only you and him were on the phone it is impossible to say if he was inappropriate. But if you just want them to be made aware, a quick call to the local health department will make him very aware of what you are claiming.
