Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I recently had my car shipped from California to New Jersey using safeway car transport and i've never had such a bad experience with any company in my life. It seemed ok first, and I was excited when they told me my car was getting there on a Tuesday when I was expecting it on a Friday.

Starting tuesday night, the driver who Mike had hired called me and said they had just one more car to drop off before mine, then they were heading straight to my place. They said either late Tuesday night or first thing in the morning on Wednesday. So when I didn't hear from the driver I called him at 9 am the next morning and the driver told me a few hours and I tried to get an accurate time so I asked if it will be there by 12 or 1 and all I kept getting was a few hours.

This is when all the crazy lying and excuses started from the driver, and Mike didn't want to help set it straight because he said he was being firm but didn't want to be an a*s. First he said he was delayed because he hit either 3 or 4 bridges that were too short so he had to unload all the cars and drive them thru then reload the truck on the other side. Then later that night when he said he was about 30 mins from my house, he was at a truck stop and got hit by a car and so he was talking to the police all night.

At this point i was done dealing with him and only going through mike thinking he could run a business. I got Mike to talk to the driver to confirm a time between 1-3 PM and of course i didn't hear from the driver at all. So i called Mike again and he just kept saying well if i was driving the car i'd have it to you. I had to cancel 2 full days of work waiting for these incompetent drivers.

After all the excueses and promises of being there in 30 mins for 2 straight days, the car finally arrived at 5:15 with damage to it. The exhaust was clearly extremely loose, and the drivers tried telling me I gave them the car that way and they don't measure how far each exhaust is from the ground and they only deal with broken windows or dents.

I tried telling them that I paid for the car to get from point A to point B the same way and they were the only one to touch the car and they said its impossible for them to have messed up an exhaust. They also argued that they picked the car up in the dark so they couldn't tell the exhaust was like that when they picked it up. I asked it they brought lights because it seems like that would be the normal thing to do and they said yes but it was still really dark. Not only was the exhaust clearly messed up, there were different maintenance lights on in the car which is 2 weeks old.

It was my mistake looking for the best price because you clearly get what you pay for. Incompetence from the top to the bottom. Between the lies and the damage, I wouldn't wish this kind of service on anyone. Be smarter than me and pay the extra 150 to have real truckers ship your car.

Why can't the insurance reps for each party get on the phone and settle this? Quick and easy. That exhaust could have been damaged if the car was taken off the truck at any time during the trip. The insurance claim rep can examine it to see what caused it to loosen up.

I have taken all the proper steps as told to me by Mike. I contacted the carriers multiple times and even sent an email with proof of the damage and Mike has seen this so there's no reason for him to be suspicious. I also told him I'm working through him because the carrier won't contact me back, even when I emailed and left messages. I also said multiple times i don't care who pays for it, but since the carrier won't contact me back, I told Mike I'm going to work through him. The steps he has given me have not worked as I have tried everything and finally decided to stop dealing with these people because it's no longer worth my time.

This is ridiculous, I ship ~150 cars per month and have not had any problems like this nor a customer so difficult to work with.  I have been in contact and answered the phone each time the customer has called. I have explained to him numerous times to contact the carrier directly as they are the responsible party for any damage that may occur while the car is in their possession. I provided him all the information to contact the transport carrier, 1st Executive Transport Inc. I also have contacted the transport carrier and told him about the customers issue which he has told me to tell the customer to contact him directly for resolution.

As of my most recent conversation the customer HAS NOT contacted the carrier once sense the delivery but only has contacted myself. I have explained the transport carriers are the ones who have to carry the liability insurance for any damages that may happen. Each time we speak the customer says he's not calling the carrier and just wants me to pay him for the damage which he says occurred. The only people present at the delivery were the customer and the driver so I can't confirm or deny his claim but he did sign off on the carriers paper stating there was no damage. I've become very suspicious now and believe there may be some untruths here as he will not contact the carrier directly to resolve the situation but just wants me to pay him money.

I will do whatever it takes to make a customer happy but the contract he has is with the carrier when the car was in their position. This can be resolved but for some reason he will not follow the proper steps.

I had told mike that if he helped me get repaid for the damage to my car, i would take down the report, but he took minimal effort to do so. Mike said that he or the company that shipped that car hadn't heard from me, which is false. I had been trying to contact them since the minute that I received the car with the damage, and I was told that because the car didn't have visible damage, they would not pay for it. The company somehow managed to pop off the whole suspension from a brand new car, and went on to blame the dealership for selling me a car without a suspension even though I drove it for a week and it was in perfect condition. Mike has still made as minimal effort as possible to help me out even though he brokered my car out to the cheapest shippers out there. I have not had one pleasant conversation with Mike and this has been a truly awful experience.

AVIOD THIS SCAM

incase anyone is wondering, this is not the first time that this has happened with this company. Here is a link to another report. http://www.ripoffreport.com/safeway-car-transpor/auto-shipping-companies/shelby-twp-michigan-3f06d.htm

In response to the claim above.

We are the broker and make every effort possible to align each customer with a quality transport carrier. We review their ratings, insurance and history. With 5,000 carriers in the industry we always do our best and view each car as if we are shipping our own.

This carrier has been used in the past and has no outstanding issues.

We contacted the carrier each time per the request of the customer and provided the delivery information as related to us but we are not the ones transporting the vehicle so despite our efforts in the end cannot control the carrier, traffic and delivery time.

We take great pride in the services we deliver and when David notified us their was damage to the car we notified the owner of the company of 1st Executive Transport Inc of the problem which he advised us he would take care of.

Since delivery of the car I, or 1st Executive Transport Inc, have not heard from David until this report was made.

I have contacted David since this posting and told him I will provide any and all support I can for him if he needs it but the company that transported his car, 1st Executive Transport Inc, is the responsible party. He told me he understood and tried to remove this posting but was unable to based on this sites terms (which by the way seems very unjust for a claim to not be removed without paying for it).
