Salvation Army- Tampa Area Command Director Offering Services without Back up Tampa Florida
Here you have an Emergency Shelter collecting federal and local funds claiming to help the homless get back on their feet. We are given a somewhat decent case management but with expectations that we are unable to meet. A well intended program offering 45 free nights so one can find work and eventually housing but with one major gliche. NO TRANSPORTATION. How are we suppose to get to job interviews, go look for housing, or do anything that requires us to go any distance from the shelter. This program is not having the results it was intended to have because of this one little problem. So in turn it causes the program to be unsuccessful with very few tangible successes.
We end up having a place to stay for a very short time but then end up back on the street in the same situation as when they started I do not believe the program was intended so that Salavtion Army could receive the funding to only pay its bills and not complete the process to make this program a success. Once again a program with a crack in it that only offers a very short term result for getting the homeless off the streets. Along with claiming to serve 3 meals a day, you recieve one small child's size bowl of cereal and child size milk for breakfast, maybe a sandwich with one slice of meat on old bread if you pressure it from them and at least a half decent hot dinner. And when they tell you to find housing they don't even give you places to look that you can afford. Once again great intentions but half a** implementation.
