Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I too am a victim of Santander Consumer USA.  I purchased a 2008 Cadillac SRX in 2010 from a dealership in Illinois and it was financed by Santander.  My payments were $700 per month.  I kept the vehicle for 2 years paying $700 per month meaning I paid more than $16,000 on the vehicle.  I was having so many mechanical issues with the car and it was very expensive to keep up so I told them that I was voluntarily returning the car.  Of course they put reposession on my credit report and claims that they could only sell it for $5,000 which we all know if a bunch of "CRAP".  Now they are claiming that I still owe them $19,000 dollars.  How in hell can I still owe them $19,000 when the original cost was only $25,000, I paid on the car for 2 years and they claim they sold it for $5,000.  There is definitely something wrong with that calculation.  $19,000 and $5,000 equals $24,000.  So I guess my paying over 2 years only brought the cost down $1,000.

Bubba Lee,

Thank you for your advice.  I have already started to rebuild my credit and it is working well for me know.

Another one of them!

Robert,

It is quite obvious "YOU" and "JIM" are both part of these scumbags.  That's why you both feel you have to defend them.  Out of the majority of the complaints that have been filed on Santander Consumer USA, both you and Jim are responding to quite a few of them.  What give you two the right to try to criticize someone because of their grammar, spelling, etc.  Sure, everyone is not as fortunate to be as educated as you "MIGHT" be, but that does not give anyone the right to try to beat them.  'YOU BOTH ARE SCUMBAGS"

Stop playing the "victim"..

You had screwed up your credit and were stuck with a "Sub-Prime" lender.  Now, of course your "victim" mentality does not allow you to take responsibility for your actions.  So as far as you are concerned it is someone else's fault and we shouldn't be so rough on you because we don't know the "full story".  Well save the violins.

What financial wizzard told you it was a good idea to get a 2 year old Cadillac SRX and pay $700/month?   Do you realize that you could have gotten a NEW car for about 1/2 of what you paid?  Sure it wouldn't have been the nicest car with all of the bells and whistles...but it would have gotten you from point A to Point B.  Not only that but it would have had a full factory warranty.   Let me guess, that wasn't your fault either and they forced you into it.  Where you wanted a cheaper car but they held you at gun point in the back room until you signed the papers for this one..right?  After all you are the victim...

But then of course the inevidable happens and surprise, surprise you can't afford the payments anymore.  After all who would have figured that a Cadillac would be expensive to maintain...right?

So because you figure that you are somehow entitled to just walk away, after all you are the victim..right?

Of course you then are shocked that they treated it as a Reposession, of course no matter that is what it was.  As it doesn't matter if you turn it in or they come and get it..a repo is a repo.

Then we get to they money.  You of course have some secret file that knows that they sold the car for more than $5,000.  Never mind that at these repo auctions a will usually go for anywhere from 25-30% of blue book.  So that puts it right in the range.

Now, you were also most likely late, that is unless you did another "smart" move and were current and just decided to turn the car in.  So if you include the extra interest and late fees along with the repo fees(yes even if you turned it in).  You probably did totally remove any money that you had paid down on the car.  With it being 2015, you can figure that if they haven't seriously started collection activities they will.  If they have started collection activities, the next step you can expect is a suit against you in court.  Where if(I mean when) you loose depending on your state they can garnish your pay check and/or attach your bank accounts.

So you may want to knock that victim chip off of your shoulder very quickly here.

Oh and sorry but before you even think it, NO I do not now or have I ever worked or have anything to do with this company.  In fact I would have said the exact same thing regardless of the company name you put.

Typical Response!

The reason YOU have credit problems is because YOU gave yourself a documented and verified reputation of NOT paying YOUR bills.  The excuses or who you wish to blame don't matter.

However, as we see so perfectly demonstrated by your response, you have no intelligent response!  You have not addressed the points I made because you can't address the points I made!

So enjoy your subprime life.  Remember, that can change the very second you start taking responsibility for your actions and paying your bills on time, every time!

NO, I'm sure you don't "WORK" for them because you are "ONE OF THEM".  That's why you feel you can put a person down who has credit problems without even knowing the reason.  What gives you the right to want to take advantage of a person who is down.  That just proves you are one of the SCUMBAGS!

Please call a NON-Profit Credit Councelling service.

They will advise you on how to get through the mess the Santander has sucked you into.

The fact that they can do this is sad, but legal.

Good Luck and listen close to the Councelling service.

Ignore JIM he is just a Inefective Troll

Another UNEDUCATED Deadbeat Wail!

Here are the facts...YOU were placed with this subprime (deadbeat) lender because YOU developed a reputation for NOT paying YOUR bills.  You can blame everybody else for that but the bottom line is it was YOU who failed to manage YOUR OWN finances!  No bank would take a chance on YOU because of YOUR self developed reputation but this lender did.  Because subprime (deadbeat) lenders have higher numbers of repo's and slow payers, their interest rates are much higher than banks.  (Again, YOU could have avoided that.)  Here's the comical part...anybody who knows anything about finance knows about AMORTIZATION which is the schedule as to how payments are applied.  Payments are applied FIRST to interest and then to principle.  There's nothing illegal, immoral or unethical about that and is done everyday.  Because YOU agreed to such a high interest rate loan over a long period, there's much more interest to pay.  That's why you owe more than what you think you should.  Perhaps you should learn a little about what you're whining about before you whine!  You agreed to a repo, which is not surprising due to your deadbeat reputation, the car is sold at auction but you are still on the hook for the remainder of the contract.  Nothing new here.  At auction, the buyer pays what they think the car is worth, period, end of story.  The mechanical problems you had with the car have NOTHING to do with the lender.

Yes, you are a victim.  You have made yourself a victim of your own deadbeat ways.  Then again, subprime thinking people are often serial deadbeats for life!

Let me save you some effort.  Don't bother writing back something "highly intelligent" like, "You must work for them" because I've hit the nail directly on the head and you just can't stand that!  I'll tell you now, I don't work for them!
