I am writing about the rip-off billing of SBC and Cingular one. I had DSL codes on my bill, but never had ever had DSl in my home, it took SBC manager to remove this manually from my bill as she could not for some unknow reason remove any other way. I now have SAGE for my home phone and Virison for cell phone. My final bill was for over 300.93 dollars, in 1999 I had a 2 year contract and that was it, now I want to see where I signed a contract with them for more then 2 years.

It has been a rip-off for over 6 year with both companies and God forbid, you talk to one of them you spend many hours and listen to more (*&^ then anyone needs to hear, the word no means no, when you get late night phone calls from SBC and there sales group trying to hassle you into buy DSL and you say no then that should be it,how dare them put that on my bill. Cingular one rip-off, SBC ripp off scams.

This woman is NOT telling the truth

This woman is NOT telling the truth. First of all, you don't get late sales calls from the phone company because they aren't open at late hours of the night. Second of all, laws are in place where you can't get sales calls after 9 p.m. Third, of all I have the dsl service and it's a one year agreement not "two" years. What is this lady talking about that she had harassing calls at late hours. Myself personally, I opened the mail and saw an advertisement for dsl service. I kept getting the advertisments and when I decided to get the service I called and that was it. I can certainly see how her bill was 300 dollars though because if you cancel the service prior to the 12 months you have that 200 dollar canceling fee. I don't know how much her bill was, or if it was pass due or late...but when you get the modem for free which cost 200 regularly. I think the phone company in question is OBVIOUSLY a business and handles customer in a business mentality. Like the cable company for instance, if you buy cable month to month and they send you out that cable box you either pay on it every month *and still return it when you are done* or you don't pay for it every month, but if you don't return it when you are done you pay 179 dollars or more. Well, I guess dsl is the same way the modem cost money and if you just cancel the service why shouldn't you pay for the modem? I am a small business owner and I provide services for my clients WITH contracts! So, I give some services for free, but they have to pay if they cancel to pay for the service they had for free. Let's just face it if you give away free service and people cancel after that then more places would be out of business and more people would be out of jobs. It never fails one out of every 25 clients get the free service love it and ask for an extended services free of charge because "they don't want to pay for it, but they want the service". If they can't get the service for free longer they cancel and get upset because they have to pay. Look people if you want to "keep" jobs in America then you understand that companies aren't your parents and business doesn't owe you free service. Stop being cheap with American business and stop spending so much money with companies over seas...then you won't have to worry about being jobless.
