Not too suprising, we were lied to once again by Schultes real estate. To make a long story short we decided to try buying the condo again instead of loosing the $1250 (deposit and appraisal) we were already out and bypass the inconvienience of small claims court. I was contacted by another sales person at Schultes named Debbie (thats all i knew about her)who treated me a little better, I was confident to work with the company again. Little did we know we were in for much more inconvenience and made a huge mistake by trying to work with these people once again. We were set to close on Tuesday 7-19-05. Suddenly, Friday 7-15, David Schultes notified my mortgage person that they were not in fact, paying their end of the closing costs even though it was written right there in the purchase agreement that they would pay $1500 credit toward the closing. In fact he told her, he wanted an additional $300 odd dollars, not telling anyone what for, in a personal check made out to him. This sounded very fishy if not illegal. On Sunday 7-17 before the closing, I met in person, the agent named Debbie who wouldn't give any answers when I inquired why they were trying to back out on their end of paying part of closing, She quickly said "ask the mortgage company" which made no sense at all. I ended up viewing the unit with Debbie, and another suprise, the unit was a disappointment with the countertops VERY poorly installed as if the unit was hastily finished and although the unit was brand new, there was evidence that someone had already made themselves at home in the bathroom. Debbie even pointed out what a terrible job they did, which was all the help she offered us. The night before the closing, I no longer had an agent to refer to on the sale of their condo, just the mortgage person who had no answers at all, so I let her know I would probably not close. The morning of closing I called the title company and cancelled the noon closing, since even the closer also confirmed the wrong amount of closing costs for me to pay. Out of frustration, my mortgage representative wanted me to contact the builder an hour before close, although before I was refused his name or number by Mr. Schultes previously and had no idea who or where the builder was. The mortgage representative even kept calling and telling me she would pay part of the closing out of her own pocket (?) I certainly did not want her to pay for anything, and didn't like being strong armed into something I was unsure of or a bad deal. This seemed like a ton of loose ends and I was glad I called the title company and just cancelled the entire closing. All I have heard since the ordeal from Schultes Realty is a call a few days later from Debbie wondering how the closing went (???). I ended up receiving a letter from a mystery writer (it didn't say who it was from) a few weeks later, stating it was from Wedgewood Village but the return address belonged to Schultes Real Estate. The letter claimed I just didn't show up and they tried calling repeatedly the day of closing. this was a lie as the closer informed them I cancelled the transaction and I had not one phone call or message from Schultes the day of closing, the entire reason I cancelled was because I DIDN'T hear back from them regarding the closing costs they were to pay. The letter also stated they were going to keep my deposit of $1000, although the title company said the money is mine and will be in my account there unless I voluntarily sign it off to them, which I will not do unless the court orders me to. I feel a seller should at least contact the buyer before the closing, especially if there are any big concerns, which there obviously were. They should be at fault for the sale not going through, falling back on their end to pay costs and all. I feel it was very negligent of Schultes Real Estate to simply blow us of when there were some questions and confusion. I received no estimate or printout of closing costs, nothing that would state how much and where the money would go. I also never received the master deed and by-laws before the closing also, which to my understanding I was supposed to have. The dates and some other things on the purchase agreement are incorrect (possibly changed by David) and I suspect David Schultes only interest is earning a comission and not the buyers well being at all. I previously let David Schultes know we didn't have a lot of money, so I was suprised when he tried to swindle more money out of us through the mortgage company of all things. He has a very poor additude is rude and condescending, and impossible to communicate with. I felt as If he expected to sit back and collect a comission from us for doing nothing, as if he had a vendetta against us when here we were bringing him business. I have purchased many items including a home before and never have had such a bad experience coming across a salesperson like David Schultes, I am wondering how he is even licenced in the real estate field after the way he treats people, which even his co-workers told me is pretty bad. I am expecting my whole deposit to be refunded, I feel It is mine since I paid so much money and received nothing but bad treatment. We have given up on buying this property and are moving on with our lives and home search. Meanwhile I am sending all I have to the Michigan Bureau of Commercial Services on their unprofessional business practices and mistreatment of customers, then possibly small clamis court. Do not bring your business to Wedgewood Village Condominiums or Schultes Real Estate, unless you enjoy a ton of stress headaches and being treated bad after trusting someone with your business and hard-earned money.
