Beware Schwan's employees and future risk takers! Schwan's benefits are not what you think they are. After paying for coverage for over 5 years and being told by the company that they pay for half I have just found out that is not true. I have just purchased a "family" policy for less than what they charged me for an "employee" policy. And with much better benefits!!!! If I had signed up for a "family" plan with Schwan's then I would be paying less than half for a "family" plan as an individual. Seems like Schwan's is making money off their beloved employees.

Also, and the biggest issue of all; Schwan's LTD (long term disability policy is really short term because it only helps you for a total of 12 months. And at that Standard Insurance Company who under writes the policy does everything they can to avoid paying you your benefits. They will lie, cheat and steal to keep from paying you one red cent. Schwan's doesn't tell their new employee this, ever. All they want you to believe is their benefits are the greatest. That's B.S!

God for bid, but if you are ever injured while working, look out. Even if the injury is the companies fault such as faulty equipment, etc. Specialty Risk Services is the Company you get to have ruin your life. And I mean this litterally! They are just as crooked as the rest of them. Schwans is not interested in their employees. Schwan's has very few veterans left as compared to new employees. I know, I was a veteran employee.

Good luck to current Schwan's employees but beware. The company will screw you some how, some way and anyway they can. And for the left-over veterans who aren't qualified to work anywhere else I say good luck your turn is next.

Anyone who listens to John's lacking knowlege of insurance is only harming themselves and their families. Perhaps in justification for your incompitance and high prices you are paying. I too, have found this report as indicated by the initial complaintant to be true. The old cliche "You get what you pay for" is not true when it comes to insurance issues involving Schwans. perhaps in your instance John but not here. And for the record, your last statement is far from the truth! We all know who you are and who you represent!

As far as Health Plans go, I could find ten more insurance companies that will be cheaper than yours. Are the plans exactly the same? I guarantee your response will immediately be ,"YES", but after you've defended your position, check out things like deductible ( Individual and whole family), your Co-Pay at a Dr's office, whether or not you have to use a in-network Doctor or not, Emergency room deductible, hospital stays, (that can cost you over $2,000 per day), and your Prescription (Rx) limits and coverage per script. Unless you REALLY take the time to UNDERSTAND each and every portion of your health Ins., you will find that the general public is so easily conned into believing that it's the SAME health Insurance. We get so focused on it being cheaper, that nothing else really matters. I hate to say it.... but... You get what you pay for. I have no idea when it comes to disability nor am I addressing that here, so if yu choose to respond let's just keep it to the health insurance for now. NOTE: I do not work for Schwans, never did and never plan on doing it. I do not consult or sell anything to Schwans or receive any payment in product or dollars from Schwans. In other words, I just call them as I see them.
