A lot of companies these days offer trial periods for a pre-determined amount of time, it could be 3 days, 7 days, 14, or 30 days as in the case of ScoreScense. It's the individual's responsibility to ask questions if anything is not clear, because even though a dollar was charged, you must think in the back of your mind that its a business, no business can profit that way if that was all that they charged. I've had ScoreScense for about 6 months now with no complaints, and was even offered a discount off my monthly bill, because a certain promotion was going on. They fully explained everything to me from the beginning and told me when I would be charged $29.95 if I didn't cancel on that date. So I would say, in this case that it was the consumer's fault for not paying attention or asking questions.
