Complaint Review: Sean Kims Martial Arts. - Oklahoma City Oklahoma

  The time that the original report speaks of the 80s and 90s I was a full-time student of grandmaster Sean Kim's. I am actually one of his original students . My brothers and I lived at the gym. My mother and oldest daughter have trained under this man I would refer him to anybody who wants to learn traditional /Olympic style taekwondo. I have seen other masters bow out of competitions because they would not spar grandmaster Sean Kim. I have never seen Master Kim with a firearm nor in any way have I seen him disrespecting woman . He has dedicated his life to bettering other people. He traveled all over the country coach and oversee our national level fights I personally hold three national gold medals from the United States taekwondo union and seven state metals also gold. Obviously the coward who made this post is never step in the ring with one of his students! Upon reading his post I took it very personal for a man that I hold with the upmost respect to be slandered in this way! Myself and many others look at Master Kim is a second father! We were trained with honor respect loyalty discipline and the concern of our opponents. Never to hurt anyone this gift we were givin was for self-defense only. Grandmaster Kim took on troubled teens and help them straighten their life. I personally have watched what he has done with troubled kids turn their lives around and pick them up and taught them that they are worth something and valuable in this life that only they can make the changes to better themselves! When I struggled in school he made me come to the gym an hour early before everyone else and helped me personally with my studies. As a student of his I was shown love respect on a daily basis. All he wanted from us was that we achieve what we wanted in life. To the coward that hides behind the Internet and makes slandering post about a man I respect very much I beg you to come by the gym ask for me and I will show you his abilities of training students myself, even though I haven't thrown a kink in over 10 years. I just so happened to run across this FALSE report about Sean Kim.  I am a former student and longtime friend of Sean.  I found many holes in this report.  The first being the statements about the Grand Master Championship in 1996 or 1997.  I started training with Master Kim in 1988 and he had already won this championship.  At that time he had been in Oklahoma for 6 years and this was the second and still current location of his Gym.  In response to his abilities I had the opportunity to view several of his past fights on VHS from when he was in South Korea and did watch him fight in Oklahoma at a tournament once.  This was a rare opportunity because you typically do not see instructors at that leave compete.

As a teen I spent just about every week day and many Saturdays training and testing at the gym from around 4:30 or 5:00 PM until around 8:30 to 9:00 pm at night.  I was trusted with a key to the gym and at times would open and get things ready for the younger age classes before they arrived.  I spent a great deal around Sean for the next several years as a student and never experienced any abuse, beating, or guns being put to anyone's head.  Sean was hard and firm with his students but fair.  He expected us to work hard and put in time helping at the Gym. I helped instruct younger classes and at times would clean and repair things around the gym.

After I graduated from High school and went on with my life I took about 15 years off from Taekwondo, until my kids wanted to take classes.  I started training again in Virgina after several years of not throwing a kick and according to the Master I train under now was impressed on the abilities that I had retained.  This is a testament to the quality and caliber of training that I received from Grand Master Kim.

To address the comments of him not being intelligent, how can a non-intelligent person maintain a successful small business for around 30 years in the same location?  Look at any small business much less a Taekwondo school and see what the longevity on average is.  If this was a reputable ripoff report why did the individual not provide his or her name? 

I would recommend Sean Kim’s Taekwondo to anyone.  Sean Kim is an honest and caring person that will provide exceptional training and teach your kids the value of perseverance, hard work, and dedication. 

If you're reading this original report in an attempt to gain some insight into Grandmaster Sean Kim's character, please save yourself some time and just come by the gym to meet him. This will give you the opportunity to make your own character assessment.

Please consider the following regarding the report:

1 - The person providing the report could not distinguish between the mid 80s and the mid 90s. - Inconsistent reporting of facts

2 - If Grandmaster Kim put a loaded gun to a students head, he would not be in business for the 28 years he has been (not to mention at the same location). Please let common sense prevail here.

3 - Personal attacks against someone typically stem from anger and result in falsehoods.

4 - My own personal experience with Sean Kim as an off and on student of over 20 years is that he is just the opposite of retarded. In his daily communication with people, his wisdom, intelligence, compassion and desire to help are clearly demonstrated.

5 - People from South Korea don't "defect" to the U.S. We're on the same side.
